Default Outer lip on Front rotors

I got a 2015 IS250 F sport, and currently has 27k miles. Was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same problem i was with my rotors. Just replaced my front rotors due to the outer lip being extremely big as if its only been pad slapped the past 100k miles. Just replaced both front rotors and pads, and went to break them in and i look, the pad looks like it contacts the rotor in a way it has to leave a outer lip. seems like the pad does not go out all the way to the edge of rotors. Anyone have any insight to this?
Thanks.

Normal. The pad isn't designed to go right to the edge of the rotor...it stops approx. 1mm short of the edge.

Hmm really? i think all my previous cars had a lip. Mazda, Hyundai, Subaru. Yours are even painted so that's good.

It's normal for pretty much every car, especially cars with performance brakes such as the F-sport.
The high friction pads wears the rotors much faster than ceramic pads.

Yep. Pretty much normal. Import, Domestic, even mountain bikes that have disc brakes.

I'm pretty sure it's a safety reason and some other reasons. All of our calipers are floating and the pads will move around slightly. If it did cover that 1mm lip or move outside of the rotor surface, then you will have the top parts of the pads with a different thickness than the rest of the pads.
