Auto mode on climate control
Can someone help me understand how auto climate control works? It ALWAYS turns the A/C on no matter what temperature I select.

The AC will always be on regardless of temp. You can disable this via the setting menu on your nav or display audio screen. You just have to remember to turn the A/C on when you need it.
The auto setting also tries to keep the cabin cool or hot at the set temperature by adjusting fan speed.
Just a side note, A/C doesn't mean cold air will blow out the vents. Pretty much like the name implies, Air Condition is to condition the air. Big difference.

Auto directs the system to do whatever it can to accomplish the temp(s) you requested.
When it is cold ambient you will get floor level warm air and the A/C will prevent fogging
up from passengers moist breath and humid clothes.
When it is hot outside you will get dash level vents with the A/C obviously engaged.
If you are going to drive with windows/sunroof open then MX73 is correct, tap open
the climate screen and turn off the A/C. If however you close up the car and then it
begins to fog up all you need to do is push the Auto button...no menu, no three steps.
Use the mode button (single button with multiple arrows, up, down...) to override the
systems choices. Example is entering hot car after vigorous activity and you want the
cold air on your hot feet rather than the default of dash level...tap the mode to select.
Recycle is often selected by the system to speed the action particularly of cooling by
keeping the hot humid outside air out until the inside gets down to your setting.
