2015 IS350 AWD VS 2013 Subaru WRX STI
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guy, I need your help in winning a Track race against a WRX STI.
i have a is350 AWD F Sport. I need to know what to do so I could have a power and torque advantage, to win the race. Need to get this Car Track Ready. What’s should I do? So Far Done: 2015 Lexus IS350 AWD F Sport - aFe Tekada Stage 2 PRO DRY S Air Intake |
Get a full header back system and get it tuned. that's all you can do for power... But a Stage 1 tune on a WRX STI will beat whatever you put on the car.
Some crazier ideas: Gut the interior for weight savings Nitrous |
if you don't want to spend a boatload, just strip the entire interior. pull out all the seats, take out the spare tire, anything that helps you save weight.

your only chance of winning is if that STi blows up in the middle of the race (which isn't impossible, those things are so unreliable they're time bombs). i used to own one before the IS... otherwise, there isn't a thing you can do to the IS that will make it out track the STi

RR Racing Tune, ARK GRiP Exhaust and PPE Headers should do it

Hope the STI driver sucks

Sell the IS, buy a focus rs, tune the rs...profit? Seriously thought to beat the STi with the RS you will turn it into a Monika and its not worth the effort or money.

Depends, If stock or modded. If that STI is Stage 2, you don't stand a chance.

seriously, I've driven all three... 2IS 350 , 3IS 350, even IS-F... straight line, they may keep up or even stand a chance for the IS-F, but all three of which will get destroyed on track against the STi

Some crazier ideas: Gut the interior for weight savings Nitrous Next week we will be releasing our Stage 1 Supercharger kit for the 3rd gen IS300/350. Currently our Stage 1 is running a rvery eliable 360whp and we are in the midst of testing the Stage II upgrade. Based on everything that I know about subaru engines, and based on our extensive testing of our supercharged shop IS350, I have much more confidence in the reliability of the 2GR-FSE vs. the subaru EJ or FA engines, which are "problematic" to say the least:) The 2GR has 40% more displacement, 2 more pistons, actual piston oil squirters to keep the pistons cooler, and smaller bore -- all these factors make for an engine that is much more suitable for reliable power upgrades. For comparison sake, our Stage I 3IS supercharger will be faster than a tuned stock turbo STi or WRX. The difference being that the subaru will need an engine build, inevitably, and probably sooner than later depending on how hard its driven! Its funny this thread came up, because I have tuned 100's of subaru's and I am very familiar with there capabilities and problems. The bottom line is that I feel the IS300/350 is simply a better car, and now that we have managed to enhance the performance of the IS with our suspension and forced induction tuning options, there is very little reason to go the subaru route! That said, there is only one reason to buy a WRX, and that would be to have a manual transmission. There is a big BUT here though, as the 5sp in the WRX is a flaming piece of garbage (whereas the STi tranny is much better). Rafi |

Best you can probably do is out drive them. On a tight track, power doesn’t help as much as a good driver. Set up your suspension to be as close to 50/50 as you can, ie corner balance it. A well prepped car and good driver on a tight track can beat out right power and an average driver any day. My boss and a friend of mine both drive sub 200hp (crank) cars at their track day events. They both have lapped much faster cars than them by simply out driving.
Good luck |
