Angry IS250 2014 Gas Gauge

Hi, I'm just a female that does not have damn clue abt Emma (Silver - IS 250 2014 F-Sport).

I had half a tank earlier and I went to fill up the rest and when i got back in the car, the gauge was at the same place it was before I pumped. I was pissed I thought the gas station jacked me. So I went inside ******ing of course... I got nothing out of it. I went to the next gas station and went to pump and the damn tank is full.
Why/how the heck did my gas gauge thing ***** break? I literally just went over 50K miles too.
Can someone pleaseeee help/explain this ***** to me?

Did you just buy the car, and have it go over 50k miles, or did you drive it all this time from new and notice this problem recently?

After a fill up, I've noticed in my car that the gas range (in miles) doesn't update immediately when I start the car up again, but the gas gauge itself updates right away.

hey arentz07,
No, i bought the car almost 4 years ago and brand new.
I just pumped today and the gauge and miles both say its half a tank, but when i went to the second gas station to pump it pumped like 50 cents and clicked as it was full. so my gauge is definitely broken right? or that sensor ball **** inside of the tank?

Dont mind the , that is from me getting an oil change before time and it coming on afterwards.

Try disconnecting the battery for 5-10min (hard reset). Maybe that would reset the gauge.

Hrm. Might be a stupid question, but is the gas tank actually full, or is the pump just stopping prematurely?

I'd go with nathantse's suggestion of disconnecting the battery. If that doesn't fix it I'd just take it to the dealer if it were me.

Another possibility is you need a new cluster. When I first bought my IS the miles didn't change for weeks. Covered under warranty so I didn't pay anything, but just a possibility

Oh and they wouldn't let me drive the car since it "wasn't safe" so be prepared in case it is the cluster...

Wonder if it's the fuel level sensor failing? Would go first with disconnecting the battery like it was mentioned above. If not, it could be the fuel sensor failing, but that's just my guess. Hopefully you are covered under warranty.

I would definitely bring it in to the dealership to get it checked out.

seems like the fsport cluster issue is on the rise. I expected the fsport cluster will have electronic issues for those who are keeping the cars long term

I wouldn't sweat much on the electronic issues of the fsport cluster. Many manufacturers are going towards a fully digital instrument cluster. Ex. Audi, Honda, Lexus, Tesla etc. Not gonna say it won't break. But, just saying its the future.

What concerns you should have with the fsport cluster is the mechanical motor that slides it right to left. But then again, I never slide mine anyways.

OP, did hard reset work?
