Opened my sunroof and a trim piece fell off
#16
Had the same issue with my 2015 MY. Dealership replaced the part under warranty and no issues since replacement in May.
Not sure if P/N changed from original, but they used P/N: 63217-30100

For me it is that accordion piece that is sandwiched between the rails and the sunroof glass and envelopes upward when the sunroof is opened or squished when it's retracted back into the roof.

This happened on my '14, so I just ripped the thing out and threw it away. I didn't notice any wind noise or other issues. It hasn't happened to my '16 yet. Seems like a common problem and maybe a design flaw.

This would be our next alternative, if it truly doesn't provide "much" use being there, if the dealer cannot fix this the third or fourth time within warranty, then I will simply remove as you did.

What is this accordion like piece called?
Does anyone know what this accordion like piece of rubber is called? I need to order a replacement but can not find the name of the part anywhere

I don't order through dealer but sometimes I use them to figure out the name/part#.
Was thinking the other day wondering if anyone started a thread on this (old thread here) as I have to snap mine back in place probably once a month.

I opened mine today, on my 2016 200 F Sport that I bought yesterday. I like the fact that there is a separate switch for venting.
My CLA had one switch for both functions. Smooth as silk. No issues, like the car itself.

does your sunroof leak? Because mine did the same thing yesterday
#24
the side curtains shouldn't do much to prevent leaking, unless it's tilted while raining or maybe if car was really wet. There is a drain there anyways for any water which could and will come through.
I would just snap the piece back in place. not a "snap" exactly (that's the problem) but it fits back to place very easily.

It's a wide-spread issue with the 3IS. My 2020 had the same issue and the dealer did not fix it properly (simply pushing it back in does not last). But then the lease was up so someone else is probably dealing with it now. It sounds like the only thing that will work is an all new piece that's been redesigned.
