Hi,

I went to Firestone today to get a wheel alignment and I was told they couldn't do it for my IS because Firestone didn't have the right equipment to account for car's Blind Spot monitor. Has anyone else been told this or is it BS? Additionally, I'm getting tires put in at a Lexus dealership today (they were the cheapest installer listed on Tirerack) along with a wheel alignment. However, I was told it take about 4 hours which is insane. Does anyone have the BDSM system on their Lexus and know of a good independent shop they go to get wheel alignments in the NYC/NJ area? Let me know. Thanks.

Per the service manual there is no special equipment required to do an alignment on vehicles equipped with the BSM. There ARE additional steps outlined in the alignment procedure for vehicles above and beyond the typical caster/camber/toe-in adjustments, and this may be what they are referring to:

8. PERFORM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR CALIBRATION
9. ADJUST LANE DEPARTURE WARNING CAMERA (w/ Lane Departure Alert System)

Idk why BSM has to do anything with alignments.. The sensors are built into the side panel of the rear bumper.

2014-up IS lexus 4 wheel alignment calls for 3-4 hrs. (Camber, toe)
toe only is about 1.5 - 2 hrs...
