This is normal. I was told by my installed that Toyota/Lexus remote push start uses an encrypted signal that has yet to be cracked by aftermarket devices. This ability is called "secure takeover". I had the same issue on a 2014 Venza, the NX, IS and RX. Bit annoying but at least it's just a button.

Unfortunately this is normal. Blame Lexus and their "safety" feature.

You can thank all the idiots that participated in the class action lawsuit that was against several car makers. A few idiots died because they remote started their vehicle in garages and other enclosed areas.

On a 300C (Chrysler) the key fob start would require you entered the car, put your foot on the brake and "re"pressed the START button. Nice and logical.

I guess the Lexus Enform app serves its purpose, You can start it when you're minutes away (well outside the distance of the fob,) so the car can cool or heat for a reasonable period of time.

This is an old thread, but yes, the remote start function on a Chrysler 300 is logical and does make sense. You remote start, car warms/cools inside, engine continues to run for a few minutes, then you get in and take off feeling comfy.

It doesn't work that way for the Lexus. You can remote start the car using the Enform app on the phone, but once you unlock the car and open the door, the engine turns off. While it might be cooler/warmer in the car when you get in, you still have to start the car again which to me defeats the purpose of the remote start. It should function the same way as the Chrysler 300, with the engine still running and all you have to do is depress the brake and hit the Start button to get on your way.

We just took delivery on an RC F Sport and the new ES F Sport, so we're new to Lexus.

They also told me that you can't have two cars on the same Enform app, but then I spoke with someone at their support, and they merged the two cars onto each of our logons for remote start.

Sometimes you really have to work at getting the answer you want.
