I specifically bought a RWD for a more enthusiast driving, 2 extra gears, and a very slightly faster/lighter/better mileage car vs AWD. We hardly get snow in Seattle, but rains like crazy and black ice is not unheard of. I saw a snow button on my '17 IS350 and was wondering if it's there just for good looks? or actually has some functionality, though can't imagine that it does on the RWD, but if anyone can advise, be great.

- "dulls the throttle response"
- "It also starts the car in 2nd gear in order to dog down your torque curve. Less torque, less spin, smoother transition to getting moving in snow."
Though by the looks of it, the 2nd bullet doesn't appear to be true. I was also told that snow mode starts the car in 2nd gear, but I guess not.
Thanks guys, the tail did slide a bit on the freeway in the slushy rain one day, so will try the snow button. The less torque in that situation would certainly help.
