Cool Replacing my 7 inch screen to a 10 inch screen on my 2016 IS

Hello all,

I am new here and I am honored to be a member of Club Lexus.

However, forgive me if my question sounds stupid. But would it be possible if I want to replace the 7 inch screen on my 2016 IS350 F to the 10 inch screen like the one avalible now on the 2017 model. I mean these is enough space for it specially that there are some useless black sides to my current model.

My other question is, why Lexus doesnt offer system upgrades. I mean the infotainment system looks really old.

Thank you

Replacing the screen to the larger one would probably be more involved than just replacing the physical screen itself, there would be software and firmware updates involved that I don't know would be compatible with your 16. I'm sure someone at some point will attempt and it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Lexus does offer software updates occasionally, if required to address a concern. You can check for updates here:

Thanks a lot for your reply

probably not impossible, but likely prohibitively expensive.

To upgraded to the 10" wide screen the radio and joystick will surely have to be swapped as well, possibly the amplifier also. And who knows if the plugs and pinout of these connectors stayed the same until the '17 model info hits technical resources for people to research into.

2014-2016 IS model is GEN8 Lexus navigation
2017+ IS model is GEN9 Lexus navigation
there is a change more than just a display sizing of screen.

The console is actually reshaped a little bit as well so you have a full view of the bigger screen from the driver's seat. The area around the start button is slimmed down a little. I think it would actually be impossible, not just cost prohibitive, to do this.

I too think it would be impossible. I think the angle of the console below the screen has also been flattened a bit to improve visibility of the bigger display. On top of this, you would need to retrofit the remote touch controller and update the software.

I have absolutely no problem with my 2016 screen, no regrets for not waiting for the 2017 model, I even prefer my 5-spoke wheels over the equivalent in 2017 model. Even Bugatti Veyron nor Aston Martin have a better screen
But this is just my own taste.
