Default Extended Warranty--Should I buy?

Just paid for an IS 300 F-Sport and will take possession next week. Should I pay 3K for the extended warranty? I always keep cars for 10+ years. I can buy the warranty when I pick up next week. Am thinking of going for it but not sure how to negotiate a lower price. Would like to know if others think I should purchase and if yes what price I should try to bargain for.

welcome to the forum. Long story short- no. Keep the money you would have spent on the extended warranty in the bank for a rainy day fund for this car since you won't need it.

That's a rip off. My dealer offered the 100k mile extended warranty for $1200 when I was buying the car. $3k would give them a huge profit.

I don't think it's worth it. Something that is worth it is the tire and wheel protection package. It's a lot less than the extended warranty and you'll use it more often.

Default Thank you

Thank you for the replies. I've never heard of the tire warranty. If I can get the price of the warranty down to under 2K would it be worth it? We have an older Audi A6 we bought new in 2001 that just this summer required 5K worth of repairs post warranty--for a car that is now worth about 2k . . .

for what it's worth, i bought the extended service contract for around 1,200$ for peace of mind as my previous 2IS needed a lot of work outside of the initial warranty period.
