Interesting. My shop took down the rear dome light cover, unscrewed a bolt and took off the fin for wrapping. No panels or seat removal was necessary.

On a 3IS? When I pull the rear dome light down, there are a few obstructions to the shark fin antenna bolt!

Yeah. I pulled down the light cover for them, and they found the bolt and got it off in less than a minute. They do 3IS's a dime a dozen at that shop, so maybe they know something I don't!

After pulling the rear dome light, pull down the headliner down from the back. Then you can put the wrench through the back while looking through the rear dome light opening. Takes like 5 mins max

hmmm, looks like I need to take a look again. Pull down rear dome light, then pull down headliner closest to the rear window. I'm assuming I need to work loose 2-3 clips then carefully maneuver a ratchet in via the rear window/headliner opening while using the dome light opening to view the process. Was the nut removed first then shark fin pulled up from roof before uncipping the wiring from the outside?

Yeah theres a couple clips that have to be undone. You should be able to get a couple fingers in between the headliner, feel around the headliner with your other hand and just pull down the headliner carefully near the area you feel the clips.

Thank you OP for starting this thread with pics and also everyone else who contributed to it. I can also confirm, I was able to undo the bolt holding the shark fin antenna simply by removing the rear dome light AND popping 3 clips off from the backside of the headliner. The 3 clips are spaced evenly along headliner/back window border. By undoing the 3 clips, you are able to carefully pull the headliner down a bit and give you more room to work with. I actually used my hand to push/pull the headliner down from the back window side and then used a ratchet with 10mm socket to remove the bolt through the rear dome light opening. I think the key is pushing the headliner down evenly and carefully with your hand so you don't leave a crease on the headliner. I did not remove the C-pillar or any of the seats.
