Default Seibon side splitter install...how to remove OEM side skirt?

These came in the mail yesterday. I gotta say, SUPER impressed with the quality. These things are works of art..going to be hard to drill holes in them :/
But anyway, that's where I'm at. I want to remove the factory side skirts so I can install these using nuts and bolts instead of half-assed screws. Anyone done it? Looking for a quick walkthrough.
Thanks!

Lookin good man!
Unfortunately there's no shops in my area I trust. I did the front lip and sides on my 3000GT myself, but I know way more about it since I've been in the platform for 10+ years.

I'm not sold on Seibon's front..just don't like the way it goes up on the sides. The back looks good, but I'm worried purple will be able to see unsightly things through that mesh section. Can you notice it?

I like Seibon's OEM rear. I've only seen one person on this forum with it though. Love the skirts though!

i'm sure a lot of shops just put a self-tapping screw on a power drill and screw this in from the bottom in about 5 minutes.

Best way to do it would be to remove the side skirts and use nuts and bolts, or try to utilize riv nuts if possible.

fyi to anything looking to install these in the future.

I used JB Weld to secure the nuts inside the skirt, and about 8 feet of 3M body moulding tape per side, just to make sure there's no vibrations. They are rock solid.

A couple more pics I took while waiting for the JBWeld to cure...

Unfortunately it can't be installed together like that because you can't access the plastic push plugs that help secure the skirt to the car with the splitter installed.

A 10mm screw in each wheelwell, remove a little plastic guard from under the rear (a clip and 2 more screws), and a handfull of plastic push plugs on the bottom. Then along the upper edge, 2 screws (behing the 2 covers you see when you open the doors) and a bunch of clips that didnt put up much of a fight.
It was way easier than I thought. I figured it would be like the ones on my 3000GTs, which are like wrestling a cracked out chimp.

molding tape sounds a bit overkill since you already doing nut and bolt mounting.

interesting idea with the JB welded nut on the back side.

Like someone else mentioned, it may be cleaner with Nutserts, threaded sleeve you rivet on with special tool that holds on tight to the plastic

wow looks great I've been eyeing these myself for quite a while and was always curious about this install. Online it looks like it comes with predrilled holes as per seibons website. i guess that not the case. it'll just be a PITA to have to take these off every winter. stupid nyc winters

i'm looking to install some splitters and i'm looking into the nutserts. It doesn't look like there's a way to make the nutsert face completely flush with the OEM fender. i worry that using these, there will be a gap where the lip of the nutsert is. unless parts of the oem skirts are countersunk, i dont see a way.

with op's method, the bolt goes completely through the seibon skirt into the oem skirt without having a gap in between the two.
