Help, I'm a Cheap Ass (15K Maintenance Question)
I need to schedule my 15K maintenance seen for my '15 IS250 F-Sport.
What exactly do I need and what can I just pass off? I can't really rotate the tires and all the other "factory recommended" inspections are probably done anyway on a normal oil change... Also, when I bought my car, I was told that I can just ask to have my smart key battery replaced for free whenever the fob starts messing up. Is the only thing I need an oil change? |
you could probably save more money in the long run by not being a cheap ass on stuff like car maintenance; but to answer your question, yes.
i'm cheap too :) |
Oil change should've been done at 10k.

I'm planning to just do maintenance/service at the dealer every 10k miles. I dont think the 15/25/35 is necessary, but it's all subjective imo.

the maintenance items are listed in the owners manual. pretty sure you can do it all yourself last time i checked, but i don't remember what it is. at 15K miles, i think most stuff is just "check this or that" etc.

It really replaces nothing. All between interval services are just inspection and top off fluids. There are few customers that asks for oil change every 5k but its not recommended by lexus.
From what heard from the dealership, the 5k service is around $75 and 10k service is around $225. I would just do the 10k service unless you are pushing your car very hard. Btw mercedes' only have 10k service. |
All the items provided at the so called 15,000 mile service are items that either do not need to be replaced at that point or can be easily done by the owner. we're talking about wipers, fob batteries, and cabin filters. Seriously, if the dealership did what it was supposed to do at 5k and 10k, there is nothing that needs to be done to this vehicle at 15k but to drive it. This is made up crap to rip off the lame brained.
