Default iPhone (phone/tablet) mirror on Non-nav IS250 Question

Hi all, I just picked up an IS 250 after my 02 IS300 finally died on me (after almost 200K miles!)

I bought a non-nav as I have a 2008 RX400h and the Nav was never really great. I end up using my phone anyway. I want to know how to mirror my phone so I can display the map. I have looked at several posts about using the AV and getting a bypass, but most of the bypass links do not work, and it seems like there is no one configuration that works for IS owners.

Mine is a 2014 IS 250 (non-nav) US version. I have an iPhone 5s - any way I can mirror my phone and see the map screen as I drive?

Thanks!

Thanks Werox! I did look at this earlier. Seems like the links to the bypass are no longer active. Do you know where I would be able to find another bypass? Or how it works (software vs hardware)?

To bypass a video in motion you need a separate module, like Vais Tech UML-081. There will be a sale soon, about 30% off for Valentine's day. I gonna buy it too.

Good Question - with "Car play" now being used, is there anything software based? I am pretty handy and took my old IS300 apart plenty of times, but I'd rather not take anything apart on something I just bought from a dealership.

Yeah I don't want to void my warranty..

Hoping there is a way with like adapters/cables to connect my phone to the nav screen.. without taking apart the car.

Agreed. I am planning on giving the service department a call this weekend. I'll update a response here. I've also thought about calling local places that install alarms and so on - maybe they'll have ideas/insight.

You can take apart but it should not void warranty unless you splice cable to existing harness.

There is a guy in a radar thread who links to how to do this.

You need a mini to full size HDMI cable and then an HDMI to Composite powered converter...and then a composite cable that has RCA jacks on one end and 1/8th jack on the other end... at least that's what I got from it..

Seems like so much work. Instead what i did was bought a magnetic mount and just use my phones screen for nav and the regular screen for the radio.

I think that is what is linked - that party is easy to do and not too expensive considering the functionality, but in order to see it while the car is moving, you need to remove the center console and plug a bypass in.

Don't hold your breath - Lexus has "no plans" to support Android Auto or CarPlay.
