This happened today. Only rearend damage that I notice. A delivery truck the size of a large U-Haul wasn't paying attention and failed to see me or the yield signs on either side of the frontage road.

What are the chances it's totaled?

Taideee 12-20-15 05:17 AM

none ? seems like only bumper and trunk damage

corradoMR2 12-20-15 05:27 AM

Sorry to see this.

Small detail but important... When you open your door (or any of the doors), did it feel any different? Any panels that appear misaligned fore of the rear damage? If everything feels and looks good, I don't see this as totaled.

Good luck.

Not sure if they will total it but i would not want that car back repaired. Most likely there will be some frame compression.

brendanf 12-20-15 11:42 AM

I'd say it gets fixed.

It looks as if only one rear quarter needs replacing with the rest of the trunk..

theoryguy 12-20-15 01:39 PM

That's a fix

LeapFrog 12-20-15 01:52 PM

Looks fixable, but I wonder about diminished value.

If it ever occurs, my plan after a major crash is to take my repaired car to a couple of local Lexus dealers (and if necessary, a professional appraisal company) and get a quote as a trade-in on a new car. When the subject of the accident comes up I expect the trade-in value to be lowered as much as 20%. If I can get the dealers to put the diminished value quote in writing (with a comparison to the 'undamaged' value') then I'll go after the insurance company for diminished value. If they balk, in my state small claims court would be the easiest and cheapest way to handle the subsequent litigation.

You will find you will have better luck suing the other party involved in the accident over the diminished value provided they are at fault.

Ugh. So sorry. Fixable for sure.

EdoApero 12-20-15 07:42 PM

im pretty sure that's totaled... given how the frame is bent in, but I may be wrong.

Kushp14 12-20-15 08:02 PM

I hope you get through this smoothy... Why are these cars getting hit sooo much??

Corkman 12-20-15 08:40 PM

Hope your OK. Hate to see them crush like that, but it sure helped you from feeling the force of the impacted. Push for them to total it and get something that hasn't been violated. Hope it works out for ya....
Mike
