Weird smell when start

Recently noticed a weird smell inside the car when i start the car. It goes away after a minute or two.
Had the filters changed recently and that didn't fix anything.
Anyone have any clue whats going on??

Does it smell like mildew coming from the air conditioner?

I have that mildew smell from the a/c. How do I get rid of that?

It comes from the vents, even when the fans are off. Its like a dirty wet towel smell

I had that issue with my car for a few weeks when it got really hot here,it went away by itself. I had to make sure to start the car first and then let guests in.

My dealer told me there is an optional charcoal filter that really helps with the odor. When I change mine I am going to spend the extra money and try it.

I recall a spray you can buy that gets rids of that smell..

You have to spray it into the return air vent and it will get rid of the mildew smell..

You can ask the dealer to do AC refreshment or better just get JDM squash.

I have two JDM squash in my car.
Doesn't make a difference because when the car starts, it just comes out the vent.

Do you leave the AC on when turning off the car? Could be condensation just sitting in your vents?

Yeah, sorry. What I meant was maybe there was condensation that didn't clear up before you turned off your car (if you were just using the AC). Has it always been like that or did it just start doing it recently?

had tacos the night before? j/k

you can turn heater to full blast for few minutes, it would help to dry and get rid of the musty smells in the duct works.

your condenser/evaporator is holding water. if you use the a/c (not just the fan) it helps to turn off the ac and just run the fans for a few minutes prior to turning off the car. this helps the water in there evaporate and prevent the mildew smell.

and you can use this to get rid of the smell.

take out your cabin filter, and have the heat on max, fan on low (1 bar) and make sure AC is off. once it's warm, spray this slowly into the cabin air filter slot (without the filter). make sure to not have the fan on any higher than 1 bar, it's designed to pull from a filter, without it, it could cause damage.
