Default What a horrible start to my week, I need suggestions

Just got home from picking my little brother up from school and guess what happened... my precious baby got hit. I was parked in front of my brother's school waiting for him to come out and she was trying to pull up in front of me to wait as well and what happens?

I'm assuming it was the lady's daughter in the driver seat with her permit and the mom in the passenger seat because the mom asked me to state that it was her driving not the daughter if I end up calling her insurance. She told me that she'll give me money for the damage if I'd like.

My questions are, should I call her insurance and have it fixed by Lexus? Which clearly that'd be the best option having it done by Lexus. Will my insurance go up even if I was parked and clearly not at fault? Or should I just accept money, which it hasn't been discussed how much, take it to a body shop, get it painted and call it a day?

It was a 2015 Corolla if that makes any difference. And she does have full coverage.

It really depends on what you want to do. You're insurance rates shouldn't go up due to the fact you weren't even in the car.

It's really up to you. She seems OK with both scenario's, so I would do whatever makes you feel comfortable. I would take the car to Lexus and see what they will quote you out at for the work, or your body shop of choice, then speak with the person again.

If you do decide to accept money, just make sure it covers your costs, because wouldn't that suck having to pay for their mistake.

Your insurance rates won't change as long as the lady agrees to take full responsibility for the accident with her insurance (if you do go through insurance). I've known plenty of people to just take cash for small accidents rather than go through the other party's insurance, but make sure you get a quote from wherever you choose to take it and provide her with that. It's up to you, but you can give her a chance to pay in cash. If she doesn't come through, I wouldn't hesitate to go through insurance.

So would this sound like a good idea? Go to Lexus and get a quote on how much that would cost to get fixed/painted, ask her for that much and if she doesn't come thru with how much it is, go through insurance? She seems like she'll pay as much is needed to not get insurance involved since another one of her cars was written off 2 months ago.

I called up the local shop where I take my car to get all its modifications done and they told me to take it and show them the damage to see what I should do. So I'm headed there now.

The best thing to do is call her insurance and take it to lexus. Get it fixed right. Its not your fault she hit you. Her insurance will go up.

The other optiom is take it to lexus get quote make sure includes new bumper and not repairing yours. Tell her to pay that then have them buff out scratches apply touch up and keep money use them on an exhaust or wheels. But bumper will not be perfect

that really doesn't look all that bad. at least from the picture. the really dark spot at that little edge there is probably not savable. the paint is gone there. but some compound and polish will get those scuffs right now. but if you're going through insurance and really want get a new bumper. something similar happened to me with my bumper but the clear bra took all the damage and was able to come right out. maybe invest in one of those for the future !
