The Q50 feels like a tweener to me. Almost as big as a 5 series and it almost feels like it. I had a Q50S for a week and it was a fast and fun car but didn't feel nimble. The IS feels like a tiny car in comparison.

The Benz is too feminine in this generation... The New C coupe looks awesome but they've kinda also priced it a bit out of this class.

As for the Q50... I think it looks very very nice but the interior doesn't do justice to the outside of the car. Plus I don't think it drove nice at all in comparison to the IS and it feels like a much bigger car than what it actually is.

I just think it looks too tall and narrow. The previous C Class looked way better imo. It was good looking and didn't have that awful wheel gap the new one has.

honestly, imo, the 3 and C are in a class of their own. the A4, ATS, TLX, IS, Q50 still trying to catch up

I see it this way...

C= priced out of this class
3, ATS, IS, A4 = comes down who likes what from each car
Q50 = awesome looking car but lacks in the driving department and feels too big
TLX = catchup mode and does offer some attractive features. Strong accord DNA

Care to elaborate what they need to catch up on?

just my overall driving experience. the numbers are all pretty similar, but something about the 3 and C just makes it a much more enjoyable overall experience for me. I love my IS for its looks and toyota reliability reputation.

What's the 'X' factor (something about) the 3-Series and C-Class share that the aforementioned competition lack in your opinion?

Just curious since you wound up with the IS.

I think the IS drives just as well if not better than the 3... Then again that's me. Most of the reviews of these are similar and going by some of the reviews between the GS Fsport and the latest 5.. I tend to believe bimmers have kinda sorta lost their core values. Q50 and TLX are not even in the same category when it comes to the driving experience.

i came from a 2010 C Class and i was just tired of it being at the dealers. I enjoyed it very much when it wasn't there though lol. Ended up with the Lexus because it is a very nice looking car, brand new model at the time, and reliable. I love my Lexus, but if the 3 or C had Lexus reliability, i'd have gotten one of those instead

Default Lexus IS vs Acura TLX

The c class is completely boring to drive unless you get the AMG. C class = luxury sedan. BMW, IS, ATS, and Q50 are just way different cars...real sports sedans. A4 isn't very sporty either unless you go S4. I don't see nearly as many driving enthusiasts in the Mercedes camp vs the BMW camp.

Ditto for everything stated thus far. I just traded in my 09 TL SHAWD for an IS 250 F Sport and with the loss of 100 hp, the IS is still a better car. Acura has lost their way and the TLX is a good step in the right direction but it still can't compete with the IS....

I drove the Q50S the same day I test drove the IS350 Fsport... I probably offended the [infinity] car salesman when I said, "The car drives like a hundai sonata". It just doesnt have the "feel" of a sports car. artificial steering feel and just a normal plain does-nothing-wrong type of car... but there was nothing special about it either. I drove the IS again and you can tell the engineers designed the steering and suspension with actual sport-drivers as their target market. I haven't considered going onto the acura lot, I can't get over the looks and dont think it has the driving experience I am looking for.

if the c-class is much more expensive than the rest, then i guess a more-aligned competitor from mercedez-benz would be the cla.
