It has that fun factor but that is about as far as it goes for me. After what I classify working hard, here I am today living the dream I've always imagined. God and family, and a pretty darn nice car in my garage. As a child my crush car was always a BMW, more specifically the M3.

Anyhow, enough gushing. I really, really, want to purchase an F80 M3.

My perfect build would be mineral white metallic with the sakhir orange/black extended merino leather (don't care about having all leather), lighting package, adaptive M suspension, and M Carbon ceramic brakes. I don't care much more about all the other "tech" packages.

My methodology behind the car build has changed quite a few times as I ponder this idea. I actually started out with a more basic car. Initially I was thinking about leasing since it's a "new" model. I've been on countless forums and my thought process is to actually order the car the way I want it.

So, I'm super excited to own this dream machine. What are your thoughts behind my methodology?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks
It won't bring you lasting peace. In a short while you'll find reasons to dislike the BMW and to really, really want a XXXX. It's upgraditis. With HT it's kind of expensive with cars it's silly expensive.

It is different now. Like riding, not driving.
I tested 2 new 2016 M3 and M4. I am not impressed. You will get speed, nothing more. Maybe it is enough for you, not for me.
100% Agreed, the current gen M3/M4s are not what we lusted after in the past. The M2 is a better, but is still a dialed back, video-game like experience (can't disable rev match unless all other nannies are off? really??).

Might have to consider American v8s with manual transmissions to capture that visceral driving experience again.

That's a good description. I am not in to BMWs.

There is this 60 year old tool who dogs me weekly on the way home from work. Yeah, I know his M3 is faster than my IS350, but he can't drive and I think I would get better track times than him, but he should do him. Seems like a lot of M3 drivers around here drive like jackasses. The stigma alone puts me off, but I did my share of standing roadside waiting for a tow with an old Fiat and I have to have a reliable car.

Douchebags love the BMW based on my experiences in LA. Example -- major car crash, traffic backed up, multiple cop cars -- 2 smashed up BMW's.

Or get a 2016/2017 Chevy SS. Much better sound and power delivery from a small block V8!
