Ok I did the test to see if it work here are the results, keep in mind that the first dyno test was done when it was 45-50F the last dyno was done when it was like 12F so I have planned to go back when it was warmer. The car had 2100 miles when I went for the first dyno the seconf dyno was done at 2800 miles so I put 700 miles on not enough as I wanted but I guess when I go for the spring dyno will have a better dyno. I will post the dyno sheets and let you all figure out the numbers as I only did it for the Clublexus community. This should be the same for the 3IS 350 as its the same engine.

This is the first dyno run. Temp was 45-50F
This was with the valve closed on my exhaust in normal mode.
Attachment 351386

This was with the valve open in Sport + mode.

Your weather corrected numbers show no statistical difference. Oh well, at least we know. I appreciate you taking the hit for the team. With they at least give you a refund?

For the lazy...

BASELINE

Run 1: 247hp/226tq
Run 2: 250hp/227tq
Run 3: 253hp/227tq

"TUNED"

Run 1: 239hp/218tq
Run 2: 245hp/221tq
Run 3: 251hp/227tq

An average loss of 5whp after the tune.

Just an interesting side note that if you notice the car consistently puts down more power from run 1 to run 3 whether tuned or not. This is very very common. In fact you see a difference of 12whp just in 5 minutes on the dyno with NO CHANGES at all to the car. This is why it is so important to do averages of groups of runs. It's also why it makes it so easy for companies to show "increasese" in horsepower from things like hot air intakes. Just take a first baseline run and then heat the car up on the dyno and take a third "modified" run and you have your intake that makes 12whp. Meanwhile if you had done nothing at all to the car you still would have seen that same 12whp increase on the dyno.

To late at this point doesn't matter its a loss, not worried shop I go to is basically giving it back to me in work so I'm ok.

Well thanks again for doing it. Your car is absolutely beautiful by the way.

peak numbers are useless, where are the powerband graphs of your runs?

drbazing 01-06-15 09:38 AM

Oh geez. What was I expecting? Lol too hopeful.

im interested in the power band, I want to invest in this tune but I don't know anyone whos done it on the new IS

Thanks for taking the time and money for doing these runs!

Interesting results.

I'm waiting for warmer weather myself to re-dyno the car. Interestingly enough, my last dyno after 808 miles (on VR Tuned) yielded lower gains than with 123 miles (on VR Tuned). However, the testing wasn't done with the same consistency on the last run in my case (missing blower fan on the front and me hopping in the back seat).

So hopefully when warmer weather gets here, I can re dyno with more accuracy.

This is all making me start to worry now as I'm out of the 30 days already (actually it's not even returnable once flashed it states XD)

I definitely can see the more aggressive AFR that the tune gives, but the powerband looks the same and it's probably lower due to dyno conditions of the day. That is to be expected with modern NA cars, their tunes are quite good from the factory.
