@EvilJoker What tire you running in the front? It would be nice to do a comparison to see why yours clears and his rubs.

The HTR ZIII has a pretty beefy shoulder tread, so I'm sure that's the culprit. I'm just hoping I don't need to add a camber kit.

Can't you add a little negative camber with stock front suspension without a kit?

OG Bronze TE-37 on Atomic Silver IS300 AWD F-Sport
19x8.5" +35 squared
235/35/19 Continental DWS06
Lowered on RSR Down
Zero rubbing
Wanted to run 8.5/9.5" staggered, but I found these for a great deal so I couldn't pass them up!

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires look like they have a stiffer sidewall when compared to the Pilot Super Sports that they replaced. What have you guys noticed when slightly stretching them? Anyone have pics of 225/40/18 on 18x8.5 rims?

Question Tire & Wheel size

Hey guys, I just got a 2016 Lexus IS 300 F sport. Was looking for new wheels. I have a couple in mind but I'm unsure with the wheel & tire size fitting. Currently I just have stock with square set up. I would still like to keep the square set up. THe specs of the wheels I'm looking at are 18x9.5 +38mm, 114.3x5. Would these fit the lexus? And If they do, what size tires would I need? I currently have 225/40/18. A friend told me that I should go up to 245 because the wheels are wider. But then I'm afraid if I go up to 245 in the front, that it would rub. What do you guys think? LMk, much appreciated.

Congrats on the new ride!

For your rim specs, they would work 'ok' on the rear. If you plan to lower the vehicle it may or may not be an issue depending how low you go.
For the front the 9.5 will be too wide. For the least amount of fitment hassle, an 8.5 would be best, but with some planning a 9.0 could fit easily too.

Btw...for a 9.5 inch rim you'd be looking at a 255 minimum.

@EvilJoker @taktiks Here are you tires side by side...the Sumitomo (on the left) looks like its a mere half inch wider (Tread Width), but it was enough to rub.
Ironic that the overall diameters are the same, but the revolutions are different.

Thanks for the comparison @Sasnuke , pretty clear now. Unfortunately I'm stuck, but as long as some light fender mods work, I hope I'll be good to go on the Sumitomo's in the future. Otherwise, I'll just go down to a 235 next time around.

Absolutely no rubbing, and the fitment is perfect. Running RSR Downs.
looks good. I just installed niche misano on stock suspension and the rear looks like it’s going to rub on a huge dip. The size is 19x8.5 +35 w/ 245/35/19 and 19x9.5 +45 w/ 255/30/19. So I’m happy to hear you aren’t rubbing in lowered suspension. I’m so nervous though.

Lowered on RSR Downs.

No rubbing issues at all.

Your car looks great. I’m on stock suspension and I installed nice misano with your tire setup and the rears rubbed. Now I’m on 19x8.5 +35 w/ 245/35/19 and 19x9.5 +45 w/ 255/30/19 and I don’t rub but really worried I hit a huge dip at high speed and rub badly as it’s so close. How did you manage to not rub with such wide rear tires and lowered?

pretty sure 19x9.5 will rub, and 19x10 +38 will definitely not fit without camber on an FSport. Should be 19x9.5 +40 255/30 or 19x10 +47 265/30

But IS250 or non FSport may be slightly different
