I just got new wheels on the car and the OEM sensors are not pairing up. I have driven about 40 miles so far. Just called the dealer and they want to charge me 100 bucks!!!!! Anyone have any ideas or input on how to get this done for free. I cant imagine this being something that takes the dealer more than 5 min.
Where did you get the tires from? The store I bought my winter tires from for my previous vehicles would always reset the sensors for me free of charge. The dealer won't do it unless they swapped the tires for you.
Got them from a custom tire shop. From what i have been told since the sensors are brand new they have to be programmed in the cars computer. At this point i have found a FireStone that will do it for 19 bucks. So the dealer at this point is about a 500% markup.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the IS can store two sets of sensors I believe. So once you pay to have another set matched, you shouldn't have to re-program every swap.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but they deleted that ability with the 2014 model. Another to hell with the customer move by Lexus.
i've read in other threads that you can just have the new TPMS sensors cloned to your current ones and that solves your problem. No changing codes required by Lexus.
I'm curious as the the full procedure. I don't want to start buying stuff and finding out I did something wrong and still need to fork money to the dealer.
Well hopefully one of the techs will chime in soon enough. CJW, the Edmonton/Calgary thread has some techs at Lexus of Edmonton I believe, but not sure. Try that thread to see who's a tech
