Finally got my new wheel installed. The company that makes these is DCT Motorsports (www.dctms.com). I had this one customized a bit more than the last one. They did an amazing job and made it exactly how I specified. I'm a huge fan of the audi S4 steering wheel, so I told them I wanted mine to have the same quality and look, with a fat overall grip, red stitching, and that smooth napa leather. The core is from a CT200h which is slightly smaller than stock, and it's a huge difference when turning it. It took them about a month and a half to complete. I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the box...I also made a DIY video on the install (will post it soon) which is a step by step detailed tutorial. The pricing is surprisingly fair too. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the feel and look of the wheel. It's thicker than stock in every area. No perforated leather like the stock wheel which I'm not a fan of at all. The flat bottom is really cool. The carbon fiber bit is very well done, no flaws. The install is about 7/10 difficulty level. The hardest part is knowing the order that things go back in.

Things they can customize on the wheel are limitless. Takes about a month or so to get it done. As far as I know they can:

- add any shapes to the side grips, the bottom shape, etc
- any color stitching
- all leather, suede, or carbon inserts (including other color of carbon like white, red, etc).
- regular leather or napa (smooth audi type at extra cost)
- any type of thickness you choose.

They can customize it any possible way you want. If you want a full leather wheel, or suede, or white carbon fiber, etc, or any color stitching, or some extra shapes to it, or even more thickness - they take the factory ct200h core and just build upon that according to your request. Email them for pricing, you'll be pleasantly surprised that it's quite affordable

This has the same feel as the wood trim steering wheels found in the ES and LS and so forth. These are horrible for canyon or track runs. and the CT steering wheel is BULKY. The IS wheels is already too bulky.

this is a step backwards in performance IMHO. the carbon fiber looks cool and if aesthetics is the sole goal then this is the wheel for you. The BMW's M-Sport steering is the one we need to mock. Simple slim three spoke and the technology doesn't interfere with the driving. One of the very few things i rave about the F30.

The carbon bit actually has a lot of grip to it, same goes for the wood on the cars you mentioned. It gets a bit slippery when your hands are sweaty, but so does leather. The best type of wheel for performance is always suede paired with matching suede gloves. Anything for the street is always going to be a balance between look and grip. The carbon bit found on any factory/custom wheel is simply there to add some bling. It does absolutely nothing otherwise. And not sure what you mean by bulky. Do you mean the overall diameter or grip width? Because the stock IS wheel is pretty much the same diameter as that bmw wheel you posted, and the grip width is anything but bulky on the IS...It's actually the thinnest wheel there is compared to the other cars I've driven. So I requested them to add an extra foam layer to replicate that bulky m3/s4 wheel size which translates into a more grippier feel when driving through a twisty road. Anyway, those who want a quality custom wheel that's smaller in diameter than stock, with "bulky" grip to it that you can actually appreciate, and the flat bottom for that extra sporty look, DCT can help you with that!
