Default Voice Activation Issues

I just purchased a 2014 IS 350 (replaced my G37-which I LOVED) so am getting used to many of the functionality/features. One that I am really struggling with is the the voice recognition commands with the nav system. Phone commands so-so but the destination/location help is AWFUL. I feel I have tried everything (hopefully I have missed something critical) but I'm about to the breaking point of hearing 'PARDON?'. Today before I blew a gasket, actually had to pull over and got my phone out. Very frustrating to say the least.

I am a female and am talking slowly, clearly and directly to the microphone with very little luck. A little screaming and foul language didn't help either. :/

Any suggestions or feedback??

Welcome to CL!

See if you adjust the bluetooth mic sensitivity or have the dealer do it. We've had more than a few guests all females have the same issues. I believe its the tone/pitch of the voice vs a man's which is typically more bass(ier)

Also make sure you are saying the command prompts as they are written or how the information is. Example if you have John Smith in your phone. Make sure you're saying Call John Smith and not Call John.

It can be frustrating at times, no doubt, when it doesn't understand you.

For destinations, I usually use the Bing search and have had the best luck with that, be it for a particular restaurant, park, or even an address.

Female voice or not this really shouldn't be an issue. I have read the manual and have attempted to use their specific terminology but still with little or no luck. Changed the manner my contacts were entered in my phone so having better success with the phone. My voice works just fine with systems in my husband's vehicle and the also in business world! Come Lexus this is very very disappointing. Calling my dealership tomorrow bc also having issues with the Lexus Enform apps.

make sure your air vents are not pointing upward. When the air hits the microphone, it can cause issues.

Speak normally ... not super super slow. That was my mistake the first month I owned my car

I have the same issues when I try and call somebody. It's so frustrating. Simple sentence such as "call dad" and all I get back is another message saying it could not recognize it. Geez...

I've had no issues with voice recognition, works better than expected.
