Bad MPG is350 f sport

I heard it takes a while to get good gas mileage but how long does it take? I only have 400 miles on my car but I'm only averaging 17mpg. 85% street and 15% highway.

Since my last reset, I'm getting 24 MPG. This is a mix of all three drive modes. I didn't have to wait for any period of time to get that level of MPG. Before the reset, I had tested and got 27 MPG in Eco mode.

I know others have reported low mileage numbers, but I haven't experienced it. Always in the low to mid-twenties. I've had my car since July.

Thats probably the majority of your problem right there... 85% street.

I have it on eco, I know it's mostly street driving but shouldn't it be getting at least 20 mpg in the street? Im not flooring it or anything. My previous car was an Acura TL 6mt , and I would average 23 mpgs with the same driving routes. I thought mpg would be better with the 8 speed transmission. I use to get 18 mpg combine in my Trans Am.

I only have 106 miles since I got it 3 days ago but if you trust the gauges (I don't) than I am getting over 24mpg. I always like to calculate the manual way as it seems like gauges are usually on the low end, but with 24mpg that might be pretty accurate as my 2IS was 25-27mpg.

I think RTIS250 nailed it though. My previous car got 17-18mpg when I was living in D.C. and doing mostly city street driving. Horrible traffic = horrible gas mileage. When I moved here it rocketed it up to 25-27 and that's the same car with the supposedly the same gas (there are regional differences).

If I do a highway trip I get right under 26.0 mpg. If I do a mix its usually around 18.5 mpg. I have a 350 f-sport AWD.

IS350S2K 01-05-14 02:23 PM

First tank of gas 17.1 mpg. And I didn't drive it hard.

corradoMR2 01-05-14 02:31 PM

Normal if city driving especially short trips. Case in point, my latest tank half way through I'm at 15 mpg. This is because of very short trips in cold weather (and winter fuel) over the last two weeks.

I wouldn't worry about it. I have 2K on the clock and I'm averaging just a little over 19mpg (same city/highway ratios as you). I drive in sport+ 90% of the time. As your engine breaks in, your mpg will improve.

Hoovey689 01-05-14 03:39 PM

I remember multiple cars taking around 4000 on the odometer to really get "broken in" and efficient

wulfstan 01-05-14 03:43 PM

Averaging 24-26, currently at 3,000+ miles in a littler under 2 months

i'm averaging low 22's and about 30%eco/40%normal/30%sport+

65% hwy / 35% street

Bass Mech 01-05-14 03:56 PM

i averaged 33 mpg on my way to Denver the other day. my tank average was only 26
but if you want to know your highway MPG reset the MPG once you get on the highway
i found that driving at 75 mph its easy to get over 30

SonyHome 01-05-14 04:20 PM

Has anyone done a comparison of manual vs automatic calculation to see if it's accurate? Some of these MPG are pretty terrible even if it's new especially corradoMR2 at 15MPG on his 250. He must be over 5000 miles now.

JHooks 01-05-14 04:54 PM

Wow I have 650 miles on my car already since Dec. 20th and I'm averaging 11.6 MPG. Not good
