both the 19" and the 20" look great on the 3IS

Here is my input in doing a number of the 3IS's

19" wheels are a great combination of looks concavity ( if the wheel applies) and tire sizing.

It allows you to have more tire profile which allows more comfort and the fit is great as well.

20" wheels

depending on the wheel you run into some things

The rear wheels in 20" can sit aggressive to the fender which means you will need to lower and stretch your tires to make it work.

However the look of a 20" wheel is amazing it fills the fender well up nicely gives it a nice combination of luxury and sportyness for the looks.

and overall to all of this is your budget the style and finish of the wheel your after.

I would be more than happy to help you out and show you some options.

And we ship everywhere across the world as well.

here is some brands to check out

Vossen ( CV3, CV5, CV7, CV7)

Rohana ( I just did the first Lexus IS on the new RC7 wheels) those will be showcased in the 2nd generation thread very soon.

Also the Rohana Rc22 or RC10

Niche ( Verona, Targa)

MRR ( their 19" Ground Force wheels are amazing)

there is other options to check out also.

I struggled a lot with my wheel setup...however never once did I consider a 20' wheel. It will make your car ride and drive like ****. If your car is just a "show car" then go for it, but it will dramatically change the cars feel for the worst. I originally went with a set of Velgen VMB5's and really enjoyed how they looked, however that rear wheel is just not meant for our cars...it's just too damn wide and aggressive. Even putting a 275 tire on it isn't enough...it really demands a 285. Putting a 265 on a wheel that width doesn't work math wise either. I also noticed that I was getting a severe vibration in the rear of the car with the Velgen's even after being re-balanced. And on top of that, I was originally told by Paul at Howey (through Scott at Velgen) that my car would not rub with a 275/30/19 having a 1 inch drop in the back...boy was that wrong. From day one it rubbed over dips in the road and eventually became like chinese water torture. I was not about to stretch a tire over that wheel because a stretched tire will just not perform properly, or as well, no matter what anyone will tell you. I recently got rid of the Velgen's and bought the original 19' F-Sport wheels and put the original 235/35/19 tire that I had on the Velgen's on the fronts and a 265/30/19 on the rear. No rubbing what-so-ever and it just looks and drives right. I knew they'd clear my bbk (not that the Velgen's didn't) and there is something to be said for a wheel that just works. The quality is flawless and they are incredibly light compared.

So here is the following personal take for me on the 3IS

I recommend the 19" setup

reason being is the IS is a nice size vehicle but it is not supper big either it is a sleek sporty vehicle. So you want something that will allow you to have the sporty look but with a upgraded look also.

20" wheels look awesome deep concave yes but the tire is smaller and stretched which depending on your road conditions it could cause wear for you.

19"

Vossen CVT or Cv3 wheels

Niche Targa

MRR Ground Force

just to name a few

I saw both in 19 and 20's for this Gen and I personally thinks 19!look a bit small for this car. The 20's look like a perfect fit Both cars was lowered and the 20's really stand out and the 19 just looked ok. That is just my opinion.

can anyone comment on how big of a diameter difference I can run if i have a 2014 is 350 awd. I am looking at staggered wheels but can't seem to get a definite answer about how big of a difference I can have, I am worried that I will ruin the awd system.

Thanks guys

Default My 20" combo with pictures.

I Just purchased Niche 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear for my 2015 Lexus Is. The front offset is +35 and the rear +40. Tires are the Toyo T1-R 245/30/20 front and 285/25/20 rear. No rubbing thus far but I intend to lower. Does anybody have any experience with a 20x10 wheel with the +40 offset and the 285/25/20 tire and a LOWERED gen 3 IS? These wheels are very similar to the Vossen VVSCVT wheels.

I'm thinking since Team Vossen had a slight rubbing issue with the 20x10.5 wheel and RS*R coilovers on 285/25/20 tires I will be ok with the same set up as them but a 10" rear tire. Diego, if you see this can you give your opinion? The only other difference is their offset is a +45 and I am a +40. I'm terrible with figuring all this out. Help would be appreciated. Could I get away with out coilovers and simply do lowering springs?

My ride, sitting on 20" Vossen CVTs

No rub. Unless you drive wrecklessly, then it rubs in the rear only. RS*R Downs.
