Lexus Smart Card Key (Credit Card Key)

Hey guys,
Just showing you how the credit card key looks like. It has no buttons and works like the original key fob. Just walk close to the car and put hand on handle to open.
It is the thickness of about 3 credit cards. (last picture). Length and width is slightly shorter than a credit card. And now my pocket is down to two things: wallet and cell phone!
I got it from Sewell parts using our CL discount. Came out to be $259.32 + shipping. My local dealer charged 1/2 hour of labor to program it ($72)

I find the smart card key very convenient, especially when you have another Lexus vehicle in your household and don't want to carry too much weight and bulk. Just as CorradoMR2 said, you do lose the remote door lock/unlock and remote trunk open/close feature in the smart card key. But it is a good compromise.

It is useful and IMO, Lexus should have included one in every new Lexus models, not just selected models. If it doesn't come with the new IS, shelling out a few hundreds dollars is one thing when someone needs it. However, the deal breaker to me is once the key is programmed, it cannot be re-programmed to work with your other future Lexus vehicles. It makes the spending hard to swallow if you don't new a third spare key for your new IS. This once and for all thing was told by the dealership parts department I went today. Can anyone verify if it is a correct info? Btw, a dealership in Greater Toronto Area charges Cdn$800 just for the key. I think it is too deep pocketed....

When you sign up/register on Sewell's website (https://secure.sewellparts.com/account/index.html)... it asks you if you're a member of any forums - choose ClubLexus. After you do this, you'll see the CL discount on all product pages.

Been trying to order this key through my dealer and they are having a hard time with it because the part number is supposedly not valid with my VIN. Does anyone have one of these working with a 2014 IS350 F-Sport and can you provide your VIN to me? The dealer wants to cross-check it, they want to figure out why it won't come up for my car.
They are going to order one anyway and try it. I can't imagine that it won't work, but you never know.

Yes, I know it's not an option, and I thought it would be universal too.
I was trying to get them to throw it in as part of my purchase and have it be all ready and programmed when I picked it up. I managed to get them to match Sewell's price.
