It depends on the dealer. When I asked my dealer to throw in complimentary programming of a customer-supplied card key as part of closing the deal on my new 3IS the sales guy said "sure". After I took delivery of the car the story changed and they wanted $80 to program it. The dealer's GM wouldn't budge because "the service department manager makes that decision and they have a separate budget to meet".

I bought the Techstream programming cable from China for $30 and did it myself in about 5 minutes. And I decided to to never, ever buy a car from that dealer again. I've also told at least a dozen friends to avoid them at all costs.

Just got mine working.
purchased a used smart card (HYQ14CBB) from a user on here. added a new battery, use techstream to reset my immobilizer and added all key fob and it works great.
For the record, my two fob are: HYQ14FBA but my smart card is HYQ14CBB. FCCID does not need to match. Being that the card was used and locked to another car, I had to do the reset method using a token with techstream.
used card $60
usb cable with techstream $18
battery $5
blank key blade $10 (will get it cut soon)
5 tokens $30 (ended up using two tokens to complete it. unknown software failure 14mins into the count down) https://www.weboctopus.nl/lexus-scio...calculator.php gave instant result, no need to wait for code like others.

If programming new, it's simple with techstream and needs no pass-code token.
I have three spare token willing to let go for a price. PM if needed. code never expires.

I had no problems adding a card to my 2017 via techstream (on a mac though parallels even). My key that I got for 180 off ebay had never been programmed so it took 30 seconds. Now I have to get around to getting the blank cut...

Bst thing since sliced bread - one last thing to carry every day and stumble around finding in the morning.

Think the RCF key would be interchangeable with the 89904-53511 / HYQ14CBB (is350) and 89904-24020 / HYQ14CBB (rcf)?

This thread reminded me that I hadn't gotten the blank cut on my card key yet, so yesterday I stopped in at my dealership and asked the parts guy to do it. He said no problem I'll be back in 5 mins. He came back, said I was all set, and when I asked him what I owed him, he said nothing buddy, I had fun, I never get to see those tiny blanks. Very cool move, my local locksmith wanted $50 to cut the blank. Local hardware store, while they can cut it refused to do so as "we did not sell you the blank".

Default Some dealers are better than others...

My dealer wanted $80 to program the card and $40 to cut the key.

I ended up ordering the card from mylparts.com and they cut the key for free.

Just letting everyone know I successfully paired the RCF key with F logo to my is350. They had the same FCCID so it worked.

Cool but this is still 1980s technology. We should be able to get into our cars with a simple handshake of our mobile devices being in our pockets. I think Tesla is doing this and maybe BMW with the new 5--though maybe, maybe not. I forget. I hope car makers step it up. Actually why even need a key. If Apple can implement chips inside the phone to read our faces and make secure payments, our cars should be able to scan our faces as we approach. or some other biometrics. Same for ALL our homes. I hate hate hate keys and can't understand why we still need a pocket full of large metal objects to access stuff. i was born 50 years too early!

what would be the solution to valet and other people driving the car? I leave my keyfob at home if someone needs to move my car but have my phone on me at all times. what about places that do not have cell signal? sometimes 80s technology is the most efficient.
