I bought the credit card key from Sewell and had South Pointe program it for my 2014. Works fine. Message me if you want more details. They added it just like any other key.

The next evolution would be using the cell phone to unlock the car using NFC or something similar. It should work like the card where u don't have to pull it out to unlock and start the car. Should also be an app that would look like a remote. To do whatever an ordinary remote can do. But more.

Like notify you if the alarm is going off, roll down windows from your office etc etc.

And if we have a dash cam installed, we can view it from our phone.

The part number for the smart key card depends on the build date of your vehicle.... for my 3IS built in April 15 the right part number was 89904-53511.

I had one for my 2014 and I tried to get it programmed to use with my 2015 (built in May 15) and they said they couldn't get it to work. I haven't tried taking it to another dealer.

My key for the 2014 should work, right?

There are two issues here - the first is that the key card has to be the right part number (and FCC ID). You'd need to check with a dealer to see if the 2014 card is compatible with your 2015 vehicle. They can check this by having the VIN of each vehicle.

Second, used keys are MUCH more complicated (and expensive) to program. Some dealers don't want to be bothered with the logistics of resetting the immobilizer system and will want to charge you big $$ to replace the certification ECU and reprogram all the keys.

Best to just buy a new key card from a reputable supplier that can match up your VIN with the right part number. I bought my card and the mechanical key from mylparts.com (and they cut the mechanical key for FREE!) - be sure to get the 10% Club Lexus discount.

I wouldn't trust the eBay application. When you place an ad the seller specifies what cars it works with.

It looks like you've to buy the physical key separately? Doesn't come with the smart card?

Does any one know what the part number is for the physical key?

That's correct. The part number for the mechanical key for my 2015 IS 350 was 69515-30350. Be sure to have your parts supplier verify the correct part number(s) for your specific vehicle.

Weird,... my local Lexus said the physical key part number is 69515-30380,.... not 50 for the last 2 digits. What's the difference?
