Angry Siri Eyes Free...Ain't that a B!!

Was just reading how all the other 2014 Lexus models will get Siri Eyes Free system as a standard feature. As an iPhone owner that's about to purchase an IS that really sucks. Really, why would they leave it out especially if the IS is supposed to be for the "younger crowd"? Maybe it will be available as an upgrade to the nav system.

Sadly the 2014 IS is probably the most bastardized vehicle Lexus has ever produced when it comes to missing features...

Great finding. Don't lose hope. There is still a chance to get it as an upgrade to the nav in IS. Can anyone shed some light on it?

Good find - interesting - I agree, could be a software upgrade.

I don't think Siri is that useful since you need to mount the phone somewhere in the car. It's not like you can see the iPhone on the Nav screen.

You can very easily display information from a mobile device on the screen. It's little more than a software implementation.

No need with "iOS for the Car". You'd just use AirPlay to whatever display is provided my the auto manufacturer.

Regarding a possible update, I emailed Lexus about this. Lets see if they even respond and if so have an informed response.

The dealership I have been working with stated it is available with Navi package. With this said, I have also received misinformation regarding other features.

3IS has most advanced lexus nav to date, so I am pretty sure it will be getting it as well, probably via firmware update.... 3IS currently has better than than LS and GS.

Thats the whole point with Eyes Free..... It allows using Siri without having to look at the screen..... It blanks the iPhone screen out so all commands and replies are audio only so you keep you eyes on the road. No need to mount the phone.... Just bluetooth and hit the voice button on the steering wheel and start talking with Siri....

if this picture

is any indication of Siri Eyes Free, then absolutely the IS will not get it for this model year. What you have in your 3IS is what you have, if you want the even latest greatest well then you gotta get the next model year . It'll be for the 2015 model year. Those graphics are clearly 2013 which every Lexus but the 3IS and GX have. For 2014 model years only the CT and GX are going to get the 3IS's system, ES, GS, LS, RX will continue with the 2013ish system with the new Siri Eyes Free

That doesn't make sense. Older gen system works for Siri but not 2014 gen nav? We won't k ow for sure until Lexus clarifies it.

Of course it makes sense, if the Siri Eyes Free is not in the IS now then yeah it's not available. As the article states only the ES, GS, LS, and RX will have the the feature but they are not getting the 2014 Navi as only the CT and GX are getting that for their 2014 model years. So this means Lexus will be running two different navi's at least until 2015 models hit
