Wrong about the GS. HUD is available for GS350 petrol version. You need only visit the 4GS forums to encounter GS350 owners with HUD.
By that logic, Lexus should also not offer the 350 at all since the majority of IS sold are 250s...

I think it is mostly the case in Canada as there is no package that includes HUD in 3 series in Canada. To get HUD, it is a standalone option for Cdn$1000.

For 2013 GS, it is part of the highest packages for GS350 AWD (technology and technology plus) and GS450h (technology) in Canada.

I don't ithink HUD is available on 4GS in US without getting hybrid version.

HUD is a standalone $900 option on all US 4GS models.

One thing I'm a little annoyed about with the options on the 3IS is that the All Weather package is only available on AWD models. I want a heated steering wheel on a RWD! I had a heated steering wheel on a Maxima, and at first I thought it was just a cool but not needed feature. Then I couldn't imagine life without it. Oh how we get spoiled.

I guess my point is : how many complaining about lack of availability of HUD would actually pony up the extra $1000 for the HUD option in the German cars?

I'll answer it : very very few in this compact luxury segment.

In that case, how would it influence their car buying decision? Is there anyone who would say : " I'm buying the 3 series just because it has the availability of HUD EVEN THOUGH there's no way in a million years I'm actually getting the HUD option ( if I have to pay $1000 for it.)

That would be truly twisted logic....

Except there's a plethora of missing options in the 3IS, particularily the F-Sport. the HUD is just another omission added to the list.

The reason you buy a Lexus is for the gimmicks. Credit card remotes, LCD dash, electric curtains, headlight washers, lighted sills, reclining rear seats, self parking, memory and heated everything, mouse for your display.

If I didn't want the toys, I would just drive a Corolla.

what he is trying to say is that people are just trying to find reason to complain about something, which is business as usual.

If you want a HUD, use your iPhone. Just turn on your favorite app and put the phone face up on the dashboard in front of you!

No, but we both know gimmicks are a large part of buying a luxury vehicle.

No, those are not gimmicks. That's why I told her to buy Toyota. The Corolla does the same job at 1/3 the initial cost. And 1/2 the yearly operating costs.

Ive got more invested in my Navigation updates. Than she has spent on maintenance this year.

I tried to find another link for you, but wasn't able to get to any. Try putting in my zipcode 07712?
