I would say LED if they make it such that it can surpass HID but it isn't passed that point just yet.

LED's are just for show (not sure about high-output LED), HID projectors are for performance.

LED's are bright and very efficient but are unable, so far, to be used in headlights / fogs for illuminating the road. One day soon though, the technology is coming.
