Recently took my IS for a transmission drain and refill. The invoice says (12) ATF WS. I am assuming it means 12 quarts of ATF. Does the transmission even hold that many quarts?
If they didn't keep the car for several days, put some miles on it and didn't do the drain and fill 3 times, then this is plain BS and they are thieves!
Ask them if they did several drain and fills, at least.
i took my car to a lexus dealership in southern california and they did a fluid flush and complete fluid replacement. they said that drain and fill is advised for vehicles over X amount of miles (i can't remember how many), and a flush/fluid replacement is okay for a vehicle under four years old and that has fewer than 30k miles (mine had 29k at the time of service). 'm keeping the car longterm, so i wanted to get ahead on preventative maintenance.
i had it done in 2024 and the car was noticeably smoother after the service. they kept the car for two days to perform the fluid replacement, and it listed about 12 quarts on the invoice sheet receipt thing that they gave me. i asked the service advisor how often he has this service done on his own vehicles, and he said every two years.
some will say it's overkill, but for around 300$ it was worth it for peace of mind. i also had the diff fluid replaced at the same time.

Good for you for being proactive about your car maintenance rather than being break-fix oriented. Lubricants cannot be "too fresh". Grit in your ATF is not what keeps clutches from slipping ........ pressure is what keeps clutches from slipping.
