Default Trunk Lift Support Struts Replacement

The newly purchased 2008 IS250 trunk is heavy to open since the struts are "dead".
The trunk also slams really hard when closing since there is no strut strength to soften the closing.

For those that changed this, which brand did you use?

Thanks

I've been using this brand since around 2013. My newest set has been on my IS250 since 2016. Still going strong so far since the install. Luckily my trunk is still on OEM supports. It's a 2010 model BTW.

I had issues with the aftermarket ones, so ended up going with the pair of Lexus OEM trunk supports (PN: 6453053014).

ordered mine and a friend's struts from lift supports depot with their in-house brand for both hood and trunk
works fine, although their customer service was very poor in regards to a shipping issue. they flat out stopped replying after the first few emails

Thanks for the provided part number. I just ordered myself a set of OEM trunk supports as my IS350 trunk has been a safety hazard for years.

I called the local Lexus dealer, and they quoted me $73+tax for each.
So it's going to cost about $160 for two and it'll take 2 day delivery.

You can get both of them for about $85. Try ordering from Bell Lexus in Arizona or other Lexus dealerships that sell parts online.

Does anyone have a video of the trunk closing with fresh struts? I'm also wondering if mine need replacement as the trunk lid does come down reasonably hard, but it may be normal

I have heard the OEM struts are kind of wimpy even when new. I just did the 2004 Kia Sorento hood struts upgrade for the trunk. The up is 1000x times better although the down now takes some muscle but at least it avoids the slamming. Grab some from Ebay and there are a couple DIY videos on Youtube.

I saw the video, both the poster and someone that did it in the comments say there is a gap on one side of the trunk after installing them - Does yours have that?

No gap. I think the guy in the video only did one side at first because he mentions something about how hard it was to close the trunk afterwards. But if you only upgrade one side it tweaks the trunk alignment.

What site did you order from, and how much was it?
