I just bought a used 2010 IS 250 and the dash was a little sticky. I was told at dealership this could simply be cleaned but upon research later found put this is a problem with Toyotas and Lexus and they even recalled some. I looked into dash mats and they are just simply ugly and look like a floormat or a carpet on your dash. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair, or find a dash cover that looks like a real dashboard? New to this forum so this may be a common thread, but thanks.

I don't think its repairable, but you might be able to prevent it from getting worse by applying a clear ceramic tint your windshield (if your state allows it) and treating the dash with Aerospace 303 Protectant.

I would fight for a full dash replacement based on the recall. Escalate to Lexus corporate if you're not satisfied with the way your dealership is handling the situation. This was a very common problem on a few Lexus models around that time.

I have not heard of any fix for the sticky dashes. Lexus replaced them a while back, as they were defective. As stated above, I'd make a stink with corporate. Often they will come through.

Welcome to the club. AFAIK, there is no fix for it unless you can get Lexus to replace the parts. IMO, it's not too bad to deal with. You don't touch the dash often, and just be easy on grabbing the door handle.

Has anyone tried chemically cleaning a sticky dash? I use Bestine rubber cement thinner on anything sticky, and it usually works great! However, I have no experience with sticky dashboards. I agree with the comment above about treating it with 303, once the stickiness is removed.

I'm not 100%, but I think the defect runs deeper than just the surface. The material the entire dash is made of is bad, so likely the layers below the top surface are bad. Before I had mine replaced, I took my fingernail and gouged out a chunk. It was soft all the way through.

Give a call to Lexus customer service and they will open a case and refer you to a dealership. I have a 2010 IS350 that had a very small almost unnoticeable spot on my dash, and without hesitation the dealership changed out my dash in January. The dash was in stock so I brought it in on a Friday, they gave me a loaner and I picked it up on Saturday with a brand spanking new dashboard. Of course with the COVID-19 outbreak it may take longer to get done, but at least you would have a case open

BTW 2010's are still covered under the extended dashboard warranty, but it ends sometime this year so I would get it replaced if I were you

I just sprayed mine with a few coats of flat black high temp spray paint and it covered up most but not all of the stickiness. If u do it right it gives a somewhat new look to the dash. I have had it like this for 2 years and still looks the same. Dont use anything other than flat because it will reflect sun everywhere.

Your dash is eligible for replacement. Call up your dealer and make an appointment for an inspection.

For 2009-2013 IS250/350 models, coverage is until July 31, 2021. (Customer Support Program ZLZ)

Mine is a 2007 and the previous owners did not get the recall done. It still has not deteriorated (as in not gouged or scratched) but has tons of dust bunnies stuck on the entire top surface of the dash. Only on the top. Nothing around the stereo or the glove-box where it does not get hit with direct sunlight. Looks horrible when sunlight hits it. Otherwise not overly visible unless you look hard. Anyway to clean those stuck dust bunnies off without causing any further damage? Door Panels are still like new.

For the most part, that is considered deterioration. The glue is already seeping through the dash material and catching dust. The reason it looks horrible is due to the sheen of the glue when sunlight hits it. I'd look into sourcing a dash, I don't have the recall number available, but I believe it was ~$400 if you wanted to give a shot at DIY'ing like a few here have done.

call dealer ASAP, you MAY still have warranty enhancement if your 2010 is still within 10 year in service for free replacement of dash and door panels.

I'm looking at buying a used IS250 and so many have the sticky dash. Has anybody here priced replacement parts for the dash/door panels? Even better are the part numbers for those items available? I know a good non-dealership Lexus shop that is local but I'd like to buy the panels and then ask them to replace the failed parts.

Did all of the dash's have this problem? I have a 2009 IS250 that seems okay, i recently bought it and i don't know what to expect. I understand it is too late for a recall, but its not sticky either. I logged in the the Lexus site with my VIN, It shows service work from dealerships from before i owned it,I didn't see any recall items on the dash.

For the most part, they all do because of the material used. It's not just limited to the IS, various other Lexus models have this problem, along with Toyotas and even Nissans. If you read some of the previous posts, I mentioned 09-13's were still eligible through July 2021. If it's even the slightest bit tacky or shiny in direct sunlight/when it starts getting warm, I would take it to the dealer.
