Exclamation PLEASE HELP!! Power Steering/Battery Problem

Hey everyone, I need help with an issue with my 2009 Lexus IS250

About a month ago (not sure if they are related) I had 3 fuses blow. It was extremely cold out so I replaced the fuses and bought a new battery which seemed to solve the problem.

The other day I parked outside the store and let it run. When I came back outside it was no longer idling (car had turned itself off) and the battery and power steering light came on. I tried to restart it and it wouldn't start. After another attempt it started up but when I got to stoplights and it was idling again the power steering went out and the battery light went on. Now when I go to start it (I am not driving it currently, just wanted to check to see if it starts) its hesitant to start but it starts (seems like battery is low but its brand new). Assuming it's a possible alternator or a belt issue? It's parked at a friends and I plan on going to dig into it tomorrow at some point. Any help on the issue would be appreciated, anyone else have this issue in the past?

Thanks in advance,

Grant

Have both your battery and alternator tested at either O'reilly or Autozone

its most likely your alternator but still make sure to get them checked because it could still be something else

And don't leave a discharged battery to freeze or it will ruin it. Remove it to warm and charge fully for testing.

Note; a charged battery will not freeze under normal typical climate conditions....

Sounds like a typical ALT failure unfortunately. Replace and charge battery. Hopefully that new battery still can be reused. In some cases, a bad or failed ALT will then cause the battery to be no good going forward.

When you have a no-start or a slow-start, the method of debugging must include both checking the Battery and the Charging Voltage (Alternator performance):

Battery if good will show 12.6 Volts or higher (measure when engine is off)
Charging Voltage should be 13.7 to 14.7 Volts (measure on idle)
