Default Should I get a midpipe? - IS250 AWD Exhaust Upgrade.

Hey everyone! Looking into new exhaust systems for my new 2011 IS250. I found the Meghan racing sounds the best and wanted to know opinions on buying the mid-pipe to go with it. Figured it'd make the most sense as it's the same brand and they'd probably sound the best together, although I've heard a mid-pipe isn't 100% necessary. I'm not positive if I want to tune the car with the RRRacing kit yet, as it's quite a chunk of change for very minimal HP gains. Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

You may have a louder exhaust note by upgrading the mid-pipe and pairing it with an axle-back. I would certainly get a mid pipe. The factory mid pipe looks somewhat restrictive.

If you get the Megan midpipe, you will need to modify it.

Invidia also only sells a RWD midpipe.

Yeah the mid-pipe would need to be customized.

Would you advise against going with ONLY the exhaust? Not sure if I NEED the midpipe but I'd rather get it all done at once if it saves me time, money, and future hassle.

Have you thought about getting a custom midpipe at an exhaust shop? If you are going to spend the money on a plug and play midpipe, then modify it, maybe you save more money just getting the midpipe all custom.

Put whatever money left over towards an axle back.

Or just buy a AWD cat back system, which will come with a AWD midpipe.

That's a good idea. Gonna stop at one today and see if i can get a quote. I want to get the Meghan racing axle back it sounds great paired with a midpipe. Would I need a tune after installing? Seen the RRRacing flash tune is like $550 but that's pricey for not a lot of hp.

You wont need a tune. The tune is one of the better power adders for our car. The dyno charts provide
d by RR should be measured in WHP not CHP. So + 10 whp is a nice chunk. But you’ll be fine w/o a tune.

I'm getting a custom midpipe made on Friday. Will upload a clip when it's done if it'll help. My stock midpipe started rusting out and creating exhaust leaks so might as well upgrade. Since you'd have to modify a RWD midpipe anyways, might as well just build one.

Decided to go with the Meghan Racing axle back exhaust. Got a quote from a reliable custom shop (owner has 20 supras) for a custom midpipe to go with the exhaust. Thanks for the info everyone, made this process pretty easy for me.

Just got my custom midpipe done, hope it helps with your decision. Midpipe -> vibrant ultra quiet resonator -> Tanabe. It doesn't add much rasp and no drone.

Welp the exhaust is out of stock and I now have to wait until monday for a refund. Time to do more searching for an exhaust while I wait. Anyone have any suggestions?
