Front brake vibration esp on the freeway is WORSE!
I just had new front rotors and pads put on today. The OEM rotors were warped and vibrating and too thin to resurface.
Its really bad the whole front end and steering shakes like its falling apart. Im very upset after spending money and now its worse!!
I went back to my mechanic he said its probably the CHEAP AUTOZONE ROTORS. I hope hes right and not something more serious like damaged caliper pistons or a tie rod/steering rod. I went back to Autozone they said they will refund me and I will NOT be getting any more AUTOZONE parts!
I had the krap Autozone rotors taken off and refunded. Then had the OEM rotors resurfaced and put back on even though they are at the limit thickness.
Front brakes are better but still some shaking at freeway speed on initial brake pedal then as I apply more pressure some of the shaking goes away. So now Im thinking:
--The OEM rotors are still slighty warped
--The pistons inside the caliper are loose/damaged from all the vibration
--Something else is wrong like a ball joint, end link, bushing
Oh and the F-ing idiots lifted the front of the car on non factory lift points and damaged/caved in a section under the car see attached pic. I am so mad at them. I dont know if this can be fixed. Yes you cant see it but bothers me!
sorry to hear the troubles man.
I just did a brake job on my wife's 250 and understand.
the rotors don't actually warp. what most often happens is that the pad material is not properly distributed against the rotor surface causing uneven friction coefficients = vibrations!
resurfacing "cleans" the rotor and allows the pads to properly bed in again. make sure you are initially bedding in your pads to the manufacturer's specs. what pads are you using?
also there are suspension components that wear out on our cars, the main one being the lower control arm bushing! could be something worth looking into.

Perhaps backup a step and:
- verify the hub is free of debris, rust, ???? to ensure the rotor sits flat.
- have the wheels checked for run out. One or more may be bent. Stock or aftermarket?
- have the tires checked for damage, run out, and balance.
Can you confirm that applying the brakes only makes the steering wheel shake OR does it make your butt, the whole car shake. If the later, you need to look at the rear too.
I suspect a tire / wheel issue is in play and the brakes are simply there to set the actual problem into motion.

Now this takes the cake. The people you trusted to work on your cars are incompetent. You must file a claim. Hope there is a lesson learned here. What are they?

I went to autozone to get my battery charged overnight. When I got back I told them I just want to pick it up so I can put it on myself. When I got back to my car outside a freaking Autozone employee was already putting my battery in my car the WRONG WAY. Blew all fuseboxes and acted like nothing happened. Employee just walked away and hid somewhere in the store. Called corporate and told them they should pay for everything.
They paid for my tow and new parts and everything which totalled to ~$2k.
Never been to Autozone ever since they did that lol
There are numerous reasons your car may exhibit unwelcome vibrations at various speeds.
They may be the result of anything from a broken exhaust hanger to a bad CV joint or driveshaft, to an out of balance wheel, or even a failing transfer case. Don't guess here, have it checked out.
Got a quote to fix the damaged floor pan $150 my buddy owns a bodyshop.
The front vibration is from the same original rotors. They are very thin from being resurfaced so many times they are below the threshhold. So they warped again. Need to get new OEM rotors.
