Question Headlight Help

Hey guys, I just purchased an 06 is 250 and my passenger headlight goes out randomly and can be turned back on if I switch the headlights from on to off. The car does not have the AFS feature but does have HID's. So they are definitely aftermarket but now I have no idea how to change the bulb because my car looks different than any other video on youtube that's showing you how to replace a bulb on the is 250. What should I do? Have the aftermarket unit removed? or try to install a new bulb? I can add pics to describe what I'm talking about as well. Also it looks like the previous owner drilled holes in the plastic housing where the low beam bulb resides in order for the wires to pass thru.

Sounds like the Ballast is going out to me. Maybe the bulb itself but most likely the Ballast. Find someone that does HID installs it shouldn't cost you much at all to have skmesom fix it maybe $30-40. In my navigator I had got my HIDs with ballasts installed for $70 and I never had issues for the 3 years I owned it

I disagree with the previous poster who says "most likely the ballast"; a headlight that goes out and comes back on when power cycled is a very common failure mode for an HID bulb too. In any case, no need to guess. Swap bulbs between driver and passenger side; if problem moves to the other side it is the bulb, if it stays on the same side, it's the ballast.
