Default Exhuast Tips

I'm looking to change the OEM exhaust tips on my 250 as they are 11 years old now and hella scuffed and looking rough. Got the stock mufflers. I'm wondering to remove are they just pulled off? Also, is the inlet diameter 2.25 inches? I'm looking to go aftermarket cause i want something longer and wider. Thanks for the input.

Some Mothers's metal polish will clean them up real nice, I use it to maintain the tips on my Tanabe exhaust. You just want the looks of the aftermarket tips? The tanabe exhaust is bolt on, slightly louder then stock and adds a great look, but a lot more money then a few muffler tips obviously.

Most of the aftermarket tips are just bolt on, meaning they will slip over your existing pipe and usually have a set screw or clamp that holds them in place. Some people will have them tack welded just to be sure they're not going anywhere.

I just went into my basement and had a look at my stock IS350 exhaust, and I can't tell how the stock tips are on there.. It looks like they have a few tabs inside that provide somewhat of a press fit onto the pipe coming out the muffler. With some force or some leverage they might just pop off, probably a good idea to hit it with some penetrant to free them up a bit.

Many people have used AP2 tips. They look fairly OEM.

Thanks for the responses guys! SeanO, yeah mothers works great, i tried it last summer on the tips and cleaned the non-scuffed parts up real good but some parts still looked like crap, mainly around the rim on the edge. I would love to get a cat-back like the Tanabe or F-Sport but i just cant stand a car that is all show and no go lol. It's a 250, I dont really want to make it loud and seem like a fast car when it's really not. Those AP2 tips look really good, just like a bigger version of OEM style, i really like it! I would just grab OEMs off ebay or something but you can get aftermarkets for the same price or cheaper so why not. Thanks guys!

The GFX exhaust tips are also a nice OEM alternative.

Yes, they just "pull off". However, most people, myself included, had to use a mallet/hammer to remove them. Use a plastic or rubber mallet.

yep the stock tips slip right off (with a mallet and some penetrating lube).
AP2 tips look great!
