Just put on Michelin Pilot AS 3's

To replace the dreadful Turanzas. So far really impressed

They are the 3+'s and not the old 3's, right? They're a pretty good "3 season" tire esp when compared to actual summer tires. I've had no luck with them in the snow though. Getting ready to slap on some new fronts though after 40k due to the inner tire wear these cars are known for.

I had these AS3 +, and honestly I think they are ok. The dry grip is good. The wet is decent, but they wear out quickly. I honestly think they are too soft.

I'm now running the Sumito HTR A/S W rating. They are just as good dry as the Michelin, but the wet kinda sucks.

For a low budget tire for daily commute they are good.

AS3+ What sort of mileage you getting from these and what does a set of 4 cost?

I've got 18k mi on RWD w BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S. I give them an excellent rating in dry, a good rating in wet and although not a snow tire they did well in the snow.

That said the right rear is victim of circumstance and isn't looking as favorable as the left... We'll see how it does in the snow shortly!

Tires have scary good grip as the 350 clings on for dear life in the corners to a point of "I will be concerned" when they do break free in the dry as don't see them offering a warning shot. In the wet the rear always steps out first so I'm ok with that.
Mounted and balanced I was out $675 and all but the RR is showing 80% tread at 18,000 mi. No complaints.

OK - maybe one. I had them real warm from a long drive and being pushed. That night the temps dropped way below freezing. The next day it took them like 5 freeway miles to roll vibration free. It was like they took a square set when they cooled and had to come up to temp to return to being round!

I ended up paying $700 flat with no insurance from Discount To.

25k miles later they still had decent thread left. I hit a curb and blew front passenger. So I just decided to get all 4 new instead of paying for 2 new front tires. Around $350

Yes I always felt the wheels a little wobbly at times. The compound is soft to the touch on the side walls.

Getting a little less mpg but tenacious grip in corners, hasnt rained yet but that's coming. Feels more darty, prolly bc I was so used to the slow response of the Turanazas. 900 for tires, balance and alignment

I paid $1000 for a full set about 2 years ago, yet you can get a full set from Discount Tire now for nearly 835 installed (w/o tax). Guess the Pilot Cup 4S's have caused Michelin to drop the price on the A/S3+'s. As for tire wear, I've got 40k on the fronts I purchased 2 years ago. I replaced the rears last May around 25-30k iirc. Getting ready to change my fronts since the insides are pretty worn down due to the inner tire wear these cars are known for, still plenty of tread elsewhere on the tire though.

Yeah, I noticed the drop in MPG too when I switched from some Yokohama's the Lexus dealer I bought it from tossed on to these Michelin's 2 years ago.

Get toe adjusted to "0"

DixieLex 01-12-19 09:39 AM

all tires?

2013FSport 01-12-19 10:05 AM

As you monitor wear simply ask to toe it in a bit more to offset the wear. Zero may work but I simply adjust until wear stops even if it is toed in some...
The spec a starting point. Not an absolute!

Anyone else hearing a weird noise from the tires when cruising next to a wall? I’ve driven mine 1000 miles and the sound is still there. I have the A/3+ tires all around

igman 04-04-19 02:09 PM

I have been a big fan of Michelin and have them on 2 cars and 2 SUV's. I am on my second set of the Michelin Pilot AS 3's. My daughter drives the car-extremely conservative driver and we are already down to 3/32 after 20k miles. First set was the previous model and Michelin gave us a few dollars in warranty or I would've moved away then. I am now looking for a change away from Michelin. Any recommendations? All season performance with better treadwear?

I just put mine a month ago and yes, I hear that weird humming noise for 2 weeks and went away after that. Bought the GSF/RCF LCA to get rid of the uneven tire wear.

We'll see after a couple of months.

I would suggest you stay with Michelins but put on the new ps4's.
Mine have about 1/2 wear with 28,000 kilometers. I dont drive easy like your daughter :woohoo: No inner wear at all. Had front toe set as per my earlier post to '0'
