Default Oil Leak

Has anyone that has had the timing cover leak, had it fixed from the dealer without the warranty covering it. If so, how much was it, how long did it take and did it stop?
Also is there another place that can do it?

Considering the age of these cars, I doubt many of them have a warranty at all unless you purchased an aftermarket one at the time of sale.

Any shop can repair a timing cover leak, it's just a matter of finding a reputable one that can do it at a good cost. The dealer is just going to give you an astronomically high number for their quote to do it.

My mom's 2006 IS350 had a timing cover leak. She only trusts the dealer and so opted to have them fix it. The engine must be taken out to fix it. Also a few "while you're at it" items were done. She said it was close to $4k, so yeah it's expensive. My 2009 RX350 also has a timing cover leak (same basic engine 2GR-FE vs. 2GR-FSE in the IS). I put some cat litter under where it drips and trying to live with it. It's not worth getting it fixed at that cost, or even half that cost.

Our RX has been a troublesome vehicle...aforementioned timing cover leak, VVTi rattle on startup, high pressure oil cooler hose ruptured, dumping a ton of oil, lucky didn't destroy the engine. Air conditioning refrigerant leaking from evaporator, entire dash needs to come out to fix, so I just recharge system periodically. Not all Lexus vehicles are reliable I guess. I'm not impressed with the 2GR-FE engine design, based on my personal experience with it.
