It's been almost 5 years.. (2008 IS250)
Hello fam.
I haven't been here ever since I sold my 07 GS350 about 5 years ago. Although I didn't post much I stayed active here.
The reason why I back here is I am currently in market for a used IS250 with about 100,000 miles, preferably 2008 or newer.
The car would be my daily commuter.
Now I would like hear from IS250 current and previous owners about this vehicle. Its reliability, major/minor issues, things to aware of, etc.
I am excited to be back here!

Welcome back!
I've had my 07 IS250 for about 8 months, and have been loving it so far. The car is relentless - being my only car for commuting and road trips I've racked up over 13k miles since January, with no major issues. While it may not be as much of a rocketship as the 350, I think it's plenty capable for most purposes, and the RWD still makes it engaging to drive. Plus, the fuel economy is excellent for a luxury sedan and these cars are among few that appeal visually to both car and non-car people.
The two downsides I am aware of are the Carbon Buildup and Cam Gear issues.

Is there any way to solve the two problems you've mentioned? It would be appreciated if you can share the information.

The cam gear would need to be replaced (if it hasn't been already), under TSIB EG7027. Not certain if this is covered by Lexus, but I may need it done on my car sometime in the near future, so I'm researching it further. I discussed it with some Lexus techs, and they were fairly confident in saying that as long as there's good oil in the car, the cam gear startup rattle shouldn't cause any further damage/issues. It's a very intermittent problem on cold start.
Not that I'm aware of. Only oil related issue I know about is cam gear oil starvation on startup leading to the rattle.
