Bad TC? Transmission problem?
Guys,
Picked up an 06 AWD IS250 with 150k miles that has what could possibly be a transmission issue. I originally thought it was maybe a bad u-joint or driveshaft issue, but now I am concerned it could be the transmission. Hard to describe the noise, but it only happens in gear, and either fully stopped or slow speeds. Once I go into neutral it stops. Alternatively it could be at higher speeds and I just can't hear it as well. I have a pretty in depth scanner that showed zero transmission codes, but not sure if a bad TC would provide codes or not? Unfortunately all of my jack stands are holding up another car for the time being so I can't get it up in the air with all 4 wheels off the ground. It's my Monday at work so I won't get a chance to bring it in anywhere until Tuesday, and to be honest having to think about what it could be for 4 days is going to drive me nuts. I will try to record the sound and post it on here. When driving the car seems to shift without any issues, all are smooth through all gears... Any immediate thoughts? |
Well as everyone waits with baited anticipation I am happy to report I believe the noise is coming from one of the cats and not the transmission.
