Default The worlds first 3GRFSE with LMS sc kit swap

Hi guys.I ve always wanted to say that although the final result isn't as I planed. My car is a IS250 with the LMS sc kit and after Mathew from OVtunning tuned it made 270bhp.
Anyway after Rogger from UK (who first made this swap without the sc )I thought that for us Europeans who can't have 350 as an option it is an easy swap and with my sc kit I could finally see the 300BHP I ve always wanted.I saw the Toyota Mark X supercharged made 316BHP and 42NM of torque and that was my goal!
I ve found a great engine from Japan

With just 61000km and after 3 months of waiting it finally arrived!
The condition of the engine is great as it is in the picture.
The swap was very easy and it took just 8 hours.

Now the first impression when I first drove the car was not so good.I didn't feel much diference from the 4GR with my supercharger. We tested everything again for leaks but everything was fine. The car was lean according to my AFR gauge and Mathew from OVtunning agreed to help me on that .After the first file attached the car felt stronger but was lean again. The 3GR has power from 3000RPMs in addition to the 4GR.My buddy Elias who already made this swap without an sc kit loves it and made 233BHP.We had a street race to test my car but the diference between us was almost as it was with my 4GR with the sc kit on.
After some more files attached and testing my car with my other buddy's focus 1.6 turbo I saw the diference of 5 cars in front of how my car was.Mathew asked me after the last file to dyno the car and he was sure from the data logs the car would gain some decent power certainly more than 300BHP.

The guy from the dyno told me that the dyno curve was not so good and Mathew agreed to have an on real time dyno so that he could make the best put of it.
Thats the final number the car made
Mathew did fix the curve but the final number was the same

Thats the dynograph from my buddys 3GR and mines with the sc kit.The diference is 40BHP.

Well as you can see the diference is not that much and i expected a lot more than just 4BHP and 2NM of torque more than i already was with my 4GR with my LMS.
The big diference is that the car has a lot of power from 3000RPM now but the truth is that i was expecting more.
Mathew doesnt believe the dyno results and he tells me that with 20*of ignition and perfect AFR he expected to reach the 300BHP .

I really cant understand why this thing happened.I was sure my car could pass the 300hp after the swap. The car is running 6-6.5psi of boost as it was with the 4GR.I wonder why Mark X supercharged made 316bhp and 42NM of torque and mine doesnt.
Is it the Procharger? Is the tunning wrong?I dont understand how come the 350 sc is making almost 500bhp and the 3GR cant reach the 300.
I asked Mathew all that and he is just saying that the dyno results are not good but the truth is that the car although is faster the gains of having this engine are minimal.

I'm no tunning expert, but shouldn't you run it with the Mark X ECU? The is250 ecu is probably just tuned for the 204 HP.

Mathew from OVtunning told me that the 4GR ECU have enough fuel for 100BHP more.I have a manual trunny so the 3GR ECU which is auto would make things much more dificult

Using the 3GR ECU isn't a good option as his car is a manual transmission. That said, once the ECU is tuned (which OV is doing), there would be no reason to use the 3GR ECU. Aside from the increased displacement, there is no mechanical difference between the 3GR and 4GR engines. Electronically, the difference lies in the fuel (and possibly ignition) maps, but once tuned, this doesn't matter. In fact, even with the 3GR ECU, you'd still want to retune it if you add a supercharger.

A tuned 4GR ECU is the best option for this setup for sure.

I would expect similar peak hp numbers if you are using the same pulley setup you had with the 4gr. Have you looked into going with a smaller pulley on the supercharger?

Smaller pulley means more boost.I m running 0.45 bar now and in my 4GR.I haven't seen anyone boosted running more than 6.5-7psi.Even RRracing in their kit for the ISF and 350 are running 6.5psi.There s one video on YouTube with a supercharged 3GRFSE and he is running 0.8 bar but no one seems to know if this car is running without issues until now.I know if I run 0.8 bar and tune the car again I ll certainly gain another 30bhp at list but I m afraid to do it.

Can you post the parts used for your SC setup? Did you have to do any modifications to get the SC parts to fit?

Externally, the 3GR and 4GR are identical, I wouldn't expect any modifications to fit any components between the two. (Internally there are some differences).
