Lexus IS250 Ecu fault or what?
Hello, my Lexus IS250 threw 2 codes the other day. It says C1201 Engine Control System Malfunction. And P0607 Engine Control Module Performance. I was told it’s the computer box. The car will not rev. How true is this?
Can i buy a used ECU and will it work for my car without reprogramming it? I have checked all electrical part and they seem ok. My car is IS250 2007 Automatic Luxury Version. And my current ecu has a part number written on it “89661-53871” someone says it has to be the same part number for it to work. I How true is that? I am from South Africa... Lexus dealers here wants my legs for the same part number. About $1,700 just for the box...

And then there is this vid Toyota I know but P0607 again pointing to O2 sensors and not the PCM, so if I was you I would check out the O2 sensors before thinking about changing the PCM.

Thanks. I’ve changed that before. It’s still the same. The ecu is bad. Was in an accident. last year. The ECU looks bad. Any suggestions if i will need to reprogram if i get a used ECU?

You failed to mention/show the state of the PCM! Are you serious, do you really expect that to continue to function for any appreciative length of time? It is a highly sophisticated piece of electronic hardware and looking at the impact damage I'm surprised it does anything! A slight crack in the printed circuit board will give you a whole world of trouble.
I think you know what you should do as no work around from good meaning forum members is gonna 'fix' that, I can't comprehend how this damage was sustained and dread to think what state the actual car itself may be in?
sorry but I have no more suggestions other than a new PCM to start with!

Hello! I know this might sound stupid, but how do I do a handshake of the ECU with the immobilizer system?
I've looked around the internet and it says to make a bridge between 2 pins on the OBD2 for 30 minutes. The thing that confuses me is that I am not certain if this is the ''handshake'' and what pins are required for this procedure. Found people using pins numbers 13 and 5, while others are using 13 and 4.
Can someone clarify this one for me?
P.S. My ECU was in the water for quite some time and I am looking to replace it with a used one from another working Lexus. I have also uploaded a video on youtube with what the car is doing, what you can see in the video that is absolutely everything the car does, need to mention the light on the start button is green.
