Default TPMS Check System Warning

It has been over 10 years so I think TPMS batteries are dead. Will replace them soon.

In the meantime, does anyone know how I can get rid of the “Check System” Warning?

I thought maybe someone found a way for the 2nd gen IS. I read there is a way for other models.

Yes, there is a way if you are running aftermarket wheels that do not fit TPMS. You make a pvc canister and throw the sensors in it and then pressurize it to trick the car and get the light off.

If you read my OP, I said the battery is dead since it has been over 10 years. I realize I need to replace the TPMS. So putting them in a canister will not help. I was looking for a way to turn off the warning until I can replace them. Looks that there is no way around this.

I just dealt this. Discount Tires is ~$90 while Just Tires is $110. Discount tire wasn't able to connect / reprogram so I ended up getting it done at Just Tires.

If you read my OP, that's what I said.

I have a OBD2 diagnostic tool. Would I be able to turn it off with this tool? I would think that I can erase the code but will probably come back upon start up.

Because it’s a regular 2is, Lou. I’m partly joking but it’s the reality as these cars get cheaper in price, people won’t want to spend the $200-$300 (for 4 sensors) to get the sensors to sync with the car.

$75 shipped on ebay for a set of 4 used OEM sensors with new batteries. Go to tire shop and get them to replace them for you and reprogram to car.

Yeah, I know..I was just speaking in general. I always buy new Denso TPMS in sets of 4 for about $150 and have the tire Shop installed for around $100. It’s alot easier than swapping between wheels and cheap enough things that I don’t want to hassle with buying used and then paying for install twice if there is an issue, including shorter life for used.

Shops here in Houston don't care. First shop I went to, they tried to do it buy their computer could only program the sensors they sold (go figure). After 3 Discount Tire shops, I finally find a Discount Tire with competent workers who knew how to use the machine to program the sensors. I had the sensors mounted at a different shop because I don't trust Discount Tire to mount tires on wheels without damaging them. Discount Tire programmed the sensors for free.

I called the dealership and they said I had to buy new sensors from the dealership for them to program them to the car and they quoted me somewhere $100+ per sensor just for the damn part.

I do plan to replace them soon. Was just curious if there is a way to turn off the message. But I guess it's not possible. I did find 4 brand new Denso TPMS from eBAY for $134 shipped. I want to talk to the tire shops first to make sure they will be able to program it.
