What are they made of and what's the best way to restore them?

It's not a real leather I'm not sure what the material is called. Also i
Whats the best option to get the air to flow through the seats better? Seems to have lost its punch over time

The leather-like synthetic material that Lexus uses is called Nu-Luxe, but I don't think they started using it until the 3rd gen IS. I believe your 2nd gen IS should have real leather.

The 2nd generation IS used 2 types of leather, however both are real leather ("normal" and semi-aniline). As Bichon said, Nuluxe wasn't used until the 3rd gen IS.

Hmm so what's the best option to clean these then? And any advice on the airflow of the cooled seats?

I clean them with leather conditioner and a microfiber cloth. Leather does not need much to clean, just a damp wipe should do. Do not use any harsh chemicals like dish soap. I lightly dampen all leather parts, with conditioner, in the car and let it sit overnight. The next day, I dry it with a dry microfiber cloth.

As for the air flow, I just smack my seat very hard because I think the reason the airflow is blocked is because of crumbs and debris that get stuck.

Water and Woolite mixed together make a good leather cleaner. Just mix some up in a spray bottle.

I use Griot's Leather Care and it's worked well on our IS. I had a little fading on the leading edge of the arm rest and it restored it back to normal. I need to take some time and treat all the seats.

A damp cotton cloth for those with microfiber and leather... Biggest wear item is getting all the fine grit particles out of the cracks as these tend to wear the material abraiding it every time you move in the seat.
A cloth and good vacuum work best.

Anyone have good products for leather to maintain softness? And what about door panels and such?

2IS is real leather and a damp cloth should do the trick (damp enough to wipe clean, not saturate the seat).

Personally, I add Meguiar's Leather Balm and wipe clean as an extra step.
