Stick to the OEM sticker recommended pressures on the door sill unless you want uneven wear on your tires or lower fuel economy etc.

To improve the ride quality on my 2012 Lexus IS 250 RWD, is it possible to run 225/45/18 in the front and 255/45/18 in the rear compared to 225/40/18 in the front and 255/40/18 in the rears that I currently have on the car? I know that having more sidewall will improve ride quality...

I'm going to stick with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 tires. Continental will let me swap out for the other tires for free if I decide to (60 day ride guarantee).

I'M TRYING TO MAXIMIZE COMFORT, NOT PERFORMANCE. I PURCHASED THE LEXUS FOR LONGEVITY PURPOSES DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF MILES THAT I DRIVE.

^Stock suspension? I've read that some did fine on 45s and then some rubbed.

I'm going to be confirming my suspension at the end of this week, but yes, it is 99% stock.

225/45/18 might rub the front inner fender at full turn... 235/40/18 might be a better choice.

My solution to a stiff ride was a heavy 60~70lb bag of sand in the trunk, it seems to smooth out the harsh impact over potholes. That extra weight in the trunk also helps to drive RWD cars in snowy conditions.

How much sand should I get for the trunk? I'm going to try this before I invest in new 17" wheels and tires. I don't think I'll see much of a difference if I simply go from 225/40/18 in the front to 235/40/18...

If I go to 17" wheels, I will buy them so I can get 4 matching 225/45/17 tires (THIS IS THE EXPENSIVE ROUTE).

Lol buy a cheap bag of ice melting salt (I would probably double bag it) put it in the trunk and see. If not enough get another one. I carry a heavy tube filled with sand, don't know exactly how heavy but it's at least 50lb

Do you keep the 50lbs in your trunk year round? Do you have 18” wheels? Improve ride quality???

I'm on 18'' and yes I keep extra weight in the trunk all year round, it doesn't affect fuel consumption either.

I think I’m going to get a couple hundred lbs of sandbags to keep in the trunk then. Fingers crossed it improves ride quality!!!

How? 50~60lb is about the weight of a big baby or a skinny teenager in the back seat, how does it affect the fuel consumption? lol
