Default P0751, P0761, P0781, P2714 - what's the solution?

Hi guys,

Our lexus 06, has 4 transmission codes. Dealer recommends replacing transmission naturally. Is there some cheaper alternative, like replacing all the solinoids and flushing it? Has anyone dealt with this? Car drives, but won't shift to 4th. Can't really use it as a trade in since it has a transmission issue.

Kind of disappointed with Lexus, mileage is pretty low and googling seems to show that there are others who had this problem too, but haven't seen a single solution.

People have definitely changed out the solenoids. There may even be a write up on here to boot.

Typically changing the fluid isn't going to help much with getting the vehicle to switch into 4th. Like OP says it may be a solenoid.

If it comes to replacing find a used transmission on www.car-parts.com. Find a local garage that will change it for you. Might run you about $1500 -1800 but it might be the only solution you have to an expensive problem.

Thanks guys. I'll first try reaching out to Lexus, to see if they'll stand by their product. If not, will have to consider other options.

Thanks again,

Chris

P.S. Found this thread too (was useful)

I'm having the exact same problem with my 2006 Lexus gs300 took it to the dealer and they said I need a new transmission and quoted me nearly 5k. So I took it to a local mechanic and he said the solenoid c&d codes are showing stuck. I remember when I purchased the car from Lexus ( certified preowned)from Columbia SC they said I will never have to change the transmission fluid. I regret listening to them. Lexus car quality has really deteriorated over the years and I will not be purchasing another Lexus. Transmission problems on a Lexus, I'm embarrass! People I tell just can't believe it, so such an expensive car.

The cheap and time consumimg path is verify the continuity of the solenoids. If they have the proper resistance they are either stuck or not getting power.

If it were mine AND IT WAS SHIFTING WELL AND NOT SLIPPING, I would drop the pan and ohm all of the solenoids. Assuming pan and filter are not full of particles.
If they ohm good, remove them, clean them, apply 12vdc to them and backflush them until they work. Lube the O-ring and install them. The 2714 is the show stopper as it creates the line pressure the trans needs to function. If line pressure is not restored the other codes don't matter as it will slip and burn up if pressure is not correct.

This could be for many reasons and unrelated to the pressure control solenoid.

Drop the pan, look for chunks, test and clean solenoids keeping in mind that the first 3 codes could be a product of the 2714 code. No pressure, it won't shift.

Worst case is the front pump ate debris and can't build pressure = trans is coming out.

Possible case is pressure control solenoid is stuck or defective and fixing it and new fluid and you're good.

That would be my path...
